nicksalt··on How much do founders pay themselves? A European data set
You should pay yourself replacement value.

What would you need to pay to replace the closest version to you at the stage of the company u are at.

nicksalt··on Are we becoming a one world nation?
"politics or cultural norms" this made me think twice. Thanks for this perspective
nicksalt··on Are we becoming a one world nation?
The internet in my belief has always been the infrastructure and foundational layout for setting the stage for what will become the framework for conducting the rules of engagement of a true one world nation

Step 1 was Effortless communication. (internet)

Step 2 Will be effortless currency and exchange of value with decentralized authority. (Maybe Bitcoin)

Step 3 Will be politics and authority protocol for decision making.

Step 4 will be to Establish a real defence program to protect all of the above.

The road will be ugly, chaotic, confusing, complex, but I really do believe that humans are racing towards establishing the 1st principles of survival, which is to identify 1st as a humans of the planet earth and 2nd as whatever other belief one might have.

nicksalt··on Ask HN: What are you working on and why is it cool?
Just looked at your HN profile and cant find a way to contact you.
nicksalt··on Ask HN: How do you keep up the energy to work on side-projects after work?
I've always found huge success in the mornings and huge flops in the evenings.
nicksalt··on Ask HN: What are you working on and why is it cool?
Can you get into a little more detail regarding your primary business? I'd love to brainstorm? Whatsapp or Skype maybe?
nicksalt··on Ask HN: How to stay engaged in your career?
This question strikes me as something I was searching for as well. About 3 years ago someone shared this with me and it changed my whole perspective of the "Life KPIs" I was monitoring.

Here it is:

"Life is not about happiness but rather the ability have purpose, to do something meaningful, and to have it matter that you lived at all. Keep adding value to the world big or small, and you'll never be short of gratitude."

I wont be prescriptive, instead, all I can tell you is that it's changed my life. I started optimizing for the above and haven't looked back since.

nicksalt··on Ask HN: What are you working on and why is it cool?
You could so some pretty cool stuff. Have you been hyper optimizing it?

Product shelve to sale ratios?

80/20 type optimizations on revenue by skus?

Traffic flow maps?

I'd love to hear some result or stories if you do end up doing some of this.

nicksalt··on Ask HN: Resources for a doctor to learn AI and AR/VR
Hey Mate, I've been into web development and ruby scripting as a hobbyist for 3 years now.

It has helped me significantly in my professional and personal life.

The best way to make meaningful contribution is to become a true beginner. It's hard work but will change your life. You will have an entirely new framework to pull on when thinking about problems.

I would start with something like Lambda School Machine Learning Free Mini Bootcamp and then let your natural curiosity take you from there.

https://lambdaschool.com/courses/ds/machine-learning/bootcam...

The journey is everything, dreaming is living, and toolkits compound creativity.

Rock on and I hope you help the world become a little bit better.

nicksalt··on Ask HN: WIX.com equivalent for designing front-ends
It seems as though this is only for creating ads.
nicksalt··on Ask HN: WIX.com equivalent for designing front-ends
Looks awesome. Have you used it? How was the learning curve?
nicksalt··on Ask HN: If you can have only one pain in your life solved, what would that be?
Although physical pain is an acceptable answer, im interested in all types of pain points
nicksalt··on Peter Thiel “Drop Out of School Project”: Did It Fail?
I think it looks like were going to be able to get the author on this thread. So we can get an understanding as to why.
nicksalt··on Peter Thiel “Drop Out of School Project”: Did It Fail?
I'd be curious to know why the writer left that out. I'm going to invite him to come join this thread in conversation.
nicksalt··on Ask HN: Does anyone here suffer from a speech impediment?
Morgan Housel from Collaborative fund has dealt with it his whole life.

he wrote a whole piece that was amazing and very motivating about his continuous battle:

nicksalt··on Ask HN: Which books to follow for startup UI/UX?
Have you tried goodui.org... this site is an open source a/b testing of peoples UI/UX designs. It shows results of the communities a/b tests. I find it an awesome resource.

rock on!

nicksalt··on Ask HN: I own a large adult business and am moving to the Bay Area soon
Hey Mate, Just be yourself and own being yourself. In my opinion people if your a good person, enjoyable to work with, and mean well you will rise to the top no matter what. Some people use excuses as crutch for being shitty people. You got this. Good Luck.
nicksalt··on 9-5 Is Out. Try the 1-6 Instead
Agreed.I try to run strict pomodoros. Also, when ever I start to feel lethargic, I do a few squats or push ups until failure and then I always go outside for some real air (day or night). It makes me a productivity machine.
nicksalt··on Ask HN: What do you do to deal with a lack of inspiration?
I like zooming out and taking a birds eye view every now and then.

From there I start to deep dive on things that are interesting to me at that point in time

Based on those interests, i'll start to look for things or experiences around me that I could start to get my hands dirty with.

IE: Months ago I was in a low inspiration vibe. When I zoomed out, I realised I was super interested in cheese. I decided I wanted to jump into a cheese making class. I found a master cheese maker in Vermont headed down for a one day one on one. From there the magic happened

When I got home my inspiration for so many different parts of my life was on fire. Sometimes you just gotta deep dive on the things that your interested in and it will pay dividends in non related areas of your life!

nicksalt··on Ask HN: How did you acquire your first 100 users? b2b
1. Drop a retargeting pixel from adwords, fb, linkedin.

2. Get the addresses of your prospective clients.

3. Create FB ads campaign targeting your prospective clients within 1 mile radius coupled with people who work at the company.

4. Do the same on linkedin ads.

5.build retargeting audiences and continue to provide VALUE via white papers or solid content in exchange for contact info.
