nickcotter··on Vaccine hopes rise as Oxford jab prompts immune response among old and young
Good news but still a long way to go. How's it going to be rolled out? Here in the UK we have tried and failed to get a regular flu jab (our GPs have run out of a very small supply and the pharmacies don't have any to sell) and I'm not optimistic about our chances of getting this next year or whenever it arrives.
nickcotter··on The Serverless Revolution Has Stalled
That’s what we’ve been using it for, for the most part. Plugging holes in CloudFormation etc.
nickcotter··on On the Use of a Life
It’s a good question. I don’t have any numbers, but I visited my old (early 90s) campus, Exeter (UK) recently. The Chemistry and Music departments had closed down and some kind of shiny Financial Engineering building had appeared. A lot of new purpose-built student accommodation had been built on campus and off. Is it the case that students are viewed more as customers looking for a return on investment and the money is dedicated to that end?

Will this affect services like Crofflr, or do they use a different mechanism?
nickcotter··on Medium is not the home for your ideas
Even if you are well-versed in how to do it, it can still be a time sink you may not be able to afford.
nickcotter··on Medium is not the home for your ideas
No doubt, but it's easier to move if that happens.

nickcotter··on European Parliament approves copyright reform
Just to clarify - all European Parliament elections (not member state elections) have to use proportional representation. What exact type they use varies.
nickcotter··on UK Parliament petitions site crashes under traffic for petition to cancel Brexit
Cool, hopefully this isn't adding to the load! Can we have a graph too please?
nickcotter··on UK Parliament petitions site crashes under traffic for petition to cancel Brexit
It's perfectly revocable, until 11pm 29th March.

Opinion is divided as to whether it requires Parliament or if the Government can do it without further ado.

nickcotter··on Don’t trust Daily Mail website, Microsoft browser warns users
It’s literally the number one thing that those of my associates who identify as right wing universally agree on: there’s some kind of free speech apocalypse unfolding. They view this as censorship.
nickcotter··on The Headlight of the Future Is a Laser
It’s ridiculous. I find driving at night really treacherous now. I essentially slow down to a crawl if another car is coming, I just can’t see. Why do we need this?
nickcotter··on Delay, Deny and Deflect: How Facebook’s Leaders Fought Through Crisis
I left their whole enterprise, I was just sick of them from top to bottom.

I still use twitter, but I keep my distance, and it’s hardly a social platform.

This too seems like potentially a big deal.
