Wow, despicable. Thank you.

Does any one have a source for the rationale behind the sale? I was surprised it was even considered.
netfl0··on Tesla's Cybertruck Approach on Auto Manufacturing and Engineering
Yes they affect them, not all in a negative way.
netfl0··on Tesla's Cybertruck Approach on Auto Manufacturing and Engineering
This was the most compelling explanation of the visuals. They are saying that Telsa put function radically over form to reduce manufacturing complexity and efficiency. This is a purely utilitarian approach that is not self-evident.

I hope Telsa will put together a better presentation to explain this to the public. This is the sort of technical progress you'd like to see in other domains.

My first thought as well.
netfl0··on Intel's CIP wants to collect the “categories of websites you visit”
You beat me to it :)

Yes this is too bad. Great feature.

Wow I had no idea they were linked in remotely. Thanks for sharing.
netfl0··on Bye, Chrome: Why I’m switching to Firefox (2018)
I agree, though I think the reasoning was security unfortunately. They were likely trying to address legitimate issues with some large portion of the user base.
netfl0··on Bye, Chrome: Why I’m switching to Firefox (2018)
Have you made a feature request? It’s likely this is already on the roadmap.

Chrome doesn’t even have a containers feature to improve in the direction you’d like.
netfl0··on The Big Problem with Wealth Taxes
> The problem, alas, is the Constitution.

It’s not much of a stretch to think the title was their idea. I’d grant that the paper may have added the word “big”. It has their name on it.

netfl0··on The Big Problem with Wealth Taxes
Clickbait from academics makes me sad. My issue is with the headline.

The probability of something making it through Congress and getting rejected by the court seems pretty low given the historical precedents.

This made my day.
netfl0··on Life Is a Ponzi Scheme (2009)
> We need to get humans as a species to shift our (subconscious) thinking away from the goal of an ever-increasing number of humans with an ever-increasing "standard of living", enabled by ever-rising "productivity".

If you more closely analyze my post, I think you’d see we may agree.

netfl0··on Life Is a Ponzi Scheme (2009)
Younger millennials frequently start their public discourse with “how should I as a millennial...”. Always makes me chuckle.

The one thing you should console yourself with is that people are terrible at predicting the future. It will be nothing like you expect or fear. Admittedly, this could be good or bad.

netfl0··on Life Is a Ponzi Scheme (2009)
Interesting read. This hardens the argument we need continue to rapidly develop automation technology. If the productivity of robots were considered, the pyramid would look very different.
netfl0··on Tech giants have hijacked the web – Some innovators are developing new platforms
I wonder if there is a way to turn the problem into an opportunity. These people do exist, and to your point, they are not motivated by purely money.
netfl0··on Tech giants have hijacked the web – Some innovators are developing new platforms
The content is great.

The styling is, let’s say utilitarian. :)

Accessible in the dictionary sense of the word. Everyone can access the content. I am not sure about the handicap accessibility, however it would not surprise me if it was “accessible“ in that way given Sheldon’s attention to detail.

Though, the website seems to have been updated by other people since Sheldon died so I am not sure about its current “state”/quality.

Hopefully this clarifies my post.

netfl0··on Tech giants have hijacked the web – Some innovators are developing new platforms
There are many compelling technology projects in this space. However, there are many different use cases on the web and when it sounds like you solve all of them, the value proposition gets obfuscated.

One of my favorite web sites is https://www.sheldonbrown.com/

It captures the promise of the web and accessible boutique information. I hope there is a rebirth of that early web movement for high quality highly curated content and knowledge. It starts with people though. The tech is just a tool.

netfl0··on The Body Keeps the Score: Book Summary
It is really hard to determine what qualifies as trauma in this article.

It seems like a spectrum of course, but it is hard to tell what region of the spectrum is being focused on.

netfl0··on U.S. senators want social media users to be able to take their data with them
Connections can be reestablished, people may like the ability to reconsider their connections.

Additionally, there is a difference between content published and any content commented on/interacted with.

I think most people just care about being able to export their “posts”

netfl0··on What should have been an IMG element became this
I remember when they introduced ads and it was jarring. After switching to DDG about a year ago, it’s very frustrating to try to interpret google results of I’m ever presented with them.

I have to do this mental dance: * are these ad links? * are these knowledge graph links? * how many results did I get?

It is a bit tiring.

netfl0··on An electric crate motor you can drop into your car
This seems like a broad generalization.
netfl0··on An electric crate motor you can drop into your car
Think Electrician instead of Electrical Engineer.

EEs build the motor and the battery controller. Electrician level skills can arrange the parts within their specifications.

Typically the gas tank is removed and the battery is mounted in its place.
