nemasu··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
I'm working on creating a volume mixer, basically like Deej, but more polished.

Some things I'm planning on including: - App drag & drop for assignment. - Programmable macro buttons. - Small OLED displays to show app icon and volume levels.

Attempting to do everything in Rust too, even the MCU firmware. It's been a lot of fun. xD

nemasu··on Alt-F4 #65 – Factorio visualizer in Unreal Engine 5
Yes! I was hoping someone mentioned this already. I had soo much fun with DSP, ended up needing to track all my shipments in a spreadsheet. I really hope the upcoming combat system works out so I have an excuse to play it again.
nemasu··on Making iron from sand [video]
I just finished binging the first 2 seasons after reading this, thank you.
nemasu··on I love my GPD Micro PC
Same! I just wish the hinge was 360 degrees, using the pen looked awkward.
nemasu··on Google keeps records of everything you buy, even if you delete the email receipt
This was my first thought too. But it seems like any purchase, even if Google isn't involved, is logged.

I wonder if it's to get that fancy header at the top of purchase emails.
nemasu··on Notepad++ v8 release
Same here. I had to make sure it wasn't April 1 again.
nemasu··on Aya Neo: A New Challenger for Handheld PC Gaming
Yes! I still have one, and it is amazing.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Thanks. I made something similar a while ago myself called Shoutium, basically the same thing. More simpler this time around tho. Users are always difficult to get, this too will probably also fizzle out.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
I truncate the GPS data server side, it's a bit over 1KM accurate.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Yeah I'll probably add something like a unique number at the end of username.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Rust and the tokio-tungstenite lib.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Yeah, I need to figure out a way to mitigate this. For now lowering range and locking it works.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Nope, they would need to increase radius.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Will add throttling. But going to bed now, will try to do it tomorrow. Might be unpleasant in there for a bit -_-
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
This isn't accurate enough. Custom lat/lon though I might add.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Yup, using Haversine.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
I ran into this problem too, I just refreshed and it would eventually connect. Not sure what exactly is breaking.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Fixed

There's a check box beside the range selection to only see messages in your range. I'll be changing the UI a lot, will test that thanks.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Thanks! The ranges are 1KM, 10KM, 100KM etc.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Check the box beside the range selection to lock yourself in that range
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Yeah, I need to add throttling. That being said server didn't crash, handling it quite well.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Yes! This is top priority at the moment, I'm eyeing mobile twitch chat style, simpler, more compact, less bubbly.
nemasu··on Show HN: Camp Fire – chat with people within a radius
Just thought I'd share something I've been working on. Basically it's a message relay that sends messages to others around you (given GPS coordinates from browser). Can choose range from "Range" pull down near top left (hover over options for approximate distances). Back end is written in Rust.
nemasu··on Show HN: Gameslab, a FPGA powered handheld game console
This is amazing, I look forward to more posts! I'm trying to get into more hardware projects, stuff like this is very inspiring. Thanks!
nemasu··on Httpserver.h: Single header library for writing non-blocking HTTP servers in C
Yeah I was thinking this too, it doesn't seem like it. It's still blocking on http_server_listen.
nemasu··on Halmak – AI designed keyboard layout
As a Dvorak user, this was my first thought as well.
nemasu··on DuckDuckGo Terminal Interface
Seems people can't find your source, so I did some digging and found this:

"We also of course have more traditional links in the search results, which we also source from a variety of partners, including Verizon Media (formerly Yahoo) and Bing."[0]

nemasu··on Markovkeyboard: Keyboard layout that changes by Markov frequency
Agreed, I've been using Dvorak for almost 10 years now. It's more comfortable, and I can type roughly 20WPM faster compared to when I was using qwerty. That being said, switching to something better really does sound interesting.
