That said, as someone who prefers to stay fit the hard way (exercise, sleep and balanced diet) I would never take a drug to stay in shape or for that matter anything else that could be mitigated by lifestyle changes. About 11 years ago I was prescribed hypertension medication, I never went to the pharmacy to pick them up, instead I reduced my weight, started meditation and improved my cardio exercises and my hypertension is under control now. I know eventually I might need the drug (hereditary) but I will delay it as much as humanly possible.
To each their own I guess.
The way I see "work" is that you are going to spend 8hrs of your day doing it, so you better feel positive about it and enjoy it. I couldn't care less about the corporate lords and I very well know I am just a line on an excel, but when I work I want to be sure I feel satisfied, I enjoy it and build trust with my team and meaningful relationships where possible.
I am not a religious person, but there is a famous saying in Hinduism - कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन | मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि|| It roughly translates to "You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction."
I love the last line of it where it says "don't be attached to inaction" which means just because the fruit of labour isn't in your control, doesn't mean you can just start behaving like a someone who doesn't care.
That cracked me up!
That said, personally I have found immense purpose in life by having a dog. My dog not only makes me happy he teaches me that it is okay to do mundane things in life everyday and still feel extremely happy and satisfied. Each day I look at him and I thank him for being there, for teaching me how to live life, how to love unconditionally and how to live in the moment. I know it's silly but I'm having tears of joy as I'm typing because he is sleeping right next to me at my work desk. Love you my best friend ever !
About 8 years ago, I deleted all social media precisely because I intuitively felt this way:
>“The misinformation ecosystem is not just driven by user behavior, it’s also driven by algorithms,” he says. “When you engage with misinformation—even in disagreement—you’re actually contributing to the increase of misinformation in the ecosystem because you’re letting the algorithm know that it’s drawing engagement.”
BTW really love the industrial design look. Very retro, although I can see some people being turned off due to it. I am assuming it is metal case.
Ex: I am almost never interested in "30% chance of shower at 08:00pm" type of forecast. I am more interested in the trend in which the clouds/rains are moving. This helps me figure out which direction I can drive to get the best sunshine or whatever else.
Is there anyone else who is doing it the way windy.com is doing? I really love them, and so far their experience is great (almost no dark UX patterns), that said I would love to see some more competition in this space.
