neals··on I asked Bard to roast my landing page. And roast it did
That would be about the product itself, I believe the AI was asked to comment on just the landingpage, which would be more about the way of communication, not the value of the product itself.
neals··on 25 Gbit/s at home, part 1
I'm a proud owner of a 1 Gbit/s fiber connection with a 100 Mbit (wired) network in my house. I want to upgrade it to match, but I don't want to go through the effort because I never run into download times for anything.
neals··on deVStudio – Runs VS Code on Android
I spent some time last week trying to set this up.

You can use Andronix to install Linux and a window manager onto you phone. You then use a VNC app to connect to that (local) Linux container and you'll have a fully working Linux phone. Works pretty well, though I had to jump to a few hoops as not all distro's worked on my Fold 3.

DEX starts automatically when you plug HDMI into your (Samsung) phone. You then start the Andronix Linux container thing from DEX and you have a fully working Linux distro, right from your pocket. Pretty magical.

What I do, is use remote VSCode to connect to my dev server, so I don't need to run anything locally, because speed wasn't great for me. But if you set it up as I did, you can work from anywhere and you don't need a laptop.

neals··on Deno KV Is in Open Beta
Is it like a businessmodel for Deno?
neals··on What’s wrong with billable hours
I'm a lot like you, I started out that way. Over time I added 4 good developers to my team and now have a steady flow of almost steady income.
neals··on Weight-based motor vehicle tax
As in most of europe?
neals··on StarCitizen Server Meshing Architecture
I'm vaguely familiar with these topics. StarCitizen is a controversial game, if I'm not mistaken? What's this website about?
neals··on Switching from Chrome to Firefox
Yes, really. I'm sorry to disappoint you that I couldn't find the button. It's very much possible though.
neals··on Switching from Chrome to Firefox
Fair enough. I just started the latest version and must say, it has really improved. Quality of life probably means I have to look a bit more for where stuff is. And hey, they might have some stuff that Chrome doesn't have, right?

So my first one is 'Chrome devtools has a little button to instantly switch to mobile view, where you simulate (more or less) the viewport of various mobile devices'. I don't see this in Firefox.

neals··on Switching from Chrome to Firefox
I've always found the Firefox devtools be a little less 'quality of life' like. Just my opinion. Haven't used it in a few years. But for me, I just live in devtools, you know. As most of you here, probably. Opinions?
neals··on Enhancement of mosquito trapping efficiency using pulse width modulated LEDs
I have a lot of fun with mine, but have found that this season, it's not killing the bigger flies anymore. Might it lose it's strength?
neals··on Hannie Schaft, resistance fighter during World War II
Weird, I lived in the Hannie Schaftstraat most of my live. Never knew this. Did try to find out way back when, but this was before Wikipedia.
neals··on Reddit subs with millions of followers plan to extend the blackout indefinitely
Anybody, just give something to read or look at that is not reddit, but had new mildly interesting content often. I'll remove Reddit and never look back...
neals··on Reddit CEO tells employees that subreddit blackout ‘will pass’
Moved from Digg to Reddit back in the day. Used to love it, now it's more of a habit. Also, if you really look at it, it's just 9gag with extra's that I don't use. The way down is here, time for something new.

I've been trying mastodon but it doesn't scratch any itches, I just want to read other peoples comments and thoughts and learn from them. I actually don't even comment myself that much.

neals··on Making a single bolt for an FL car
As a sponsor of Formula 3, I got to visit a Formula 3 / Formula 2 team yesterday and have to say, the racing sport it just insane. The amount of knowledge and effort and money it takes for a team to operate, just below break-even, it's on another level. I think racing must have some of the most passionate people in any industry.

Also a fun fact on one of the businessmodels in racing: the team operates like a specialized car-rental service. They do everything, except drive. The driver has to rent the seat for a season, this is where the team makes money.

Then there's 2 or 3 drivers. Of these, one is talented, the others are there for their funds.

neals··on SimCity 4 was released 20 years ago
A time before micro payments. Games built by artisans that loved their product and gave it their everything. Great times.
neals··on Google Pixel Fold
I'm on the fold 3 for about 1.5 years I guess. The crease is no issue. I always compare it to reading a magazine; the page doesn't need to be flat to be good, and the screen of the food is nearly flat. You don't notice it.

Phone has been rock solid no issue. Love it.

neals··on Significant breakthrough in search for Parkinson's biomarker
As I am now casually interested in the subject, what's a good resource to find out why this disease is hard to detect and cure and various other interesting facts?
neals··on Termux is an Android terminal emulator and Linux environment app
One of those things. It's on my phone for years, never used it, had to use it today. Now it's top on HN. Anyway. The reason I never use it dawned on me. I can't install an ssh client and I don't get their package manager for some reason.
neals··on Netflix loses 1M users in Spain over password policing
Disappointment can only come from your own expectations. Good doesn't last. I like to have a mindset of using these kind of things while they work for me, until they don't, then leave and not look back. Don't get attached to commercial endeavours.
neals··on Day Ahead Market adventures: capacity restrictions and negative prices
In our country, dynamic pricing is on the raise for consumers and many consumers already profited from these pricing.
neals··on Day Ahead Market adventures: capacity restrictions and negative prices
I'm afraid I'm the middleman here. Profit went straight to us, consumer still paid the 0.70/kw.

I have to say that we are implementing dynamic pricing and want to have fixed margin of 0.30/kw, I believe we will be the first medium sized operators who will have full price transparency. We are going to be publishing 'tomorrows' prices on our website, even.

neals··on Day Ahead Market adventures: capacity restrictions and negative prices
Interesting read, I was wondering what happened that day. As an operator of a small network of fastchargers, we were delighted to have a purchase price of negative 20cent per kw. Which is huge.
neals··on The Coming Technological Singularity (1993)
The Mammoth and the Dodo did
neals··on Why don’t more people live close to friends?
I live in a small European town. Lived in bigger cities for a while. Not for me. I can just walk into the pub and have a pint and a conversation, with a friend or a stranger. Good times.
neals··on SpaceX closing in on first Starship Super Heavy launch
Why? How big is the enterprise?
neals··on SpaceX closing in on first Starship Super Heavy launch
Two big take-aways from this video:

- Half the size of the statue of liberty is it's base. Not that tall as a statue.

- Seadragon, of which I'd never heard. 1)

neals··on SpaceX closing in on first Starship Super Heavy launch
I like that we live in a time where real world photo's are like 3d renders for science fiction novel covers.
neals··on Building GitHub with Ruby on Rails
You're welcome. I had to remove the last paragraph from the output as well, as chatGPT seems to like to summarize it's output one last time. I see that a lot in it's output and it's a dead giveaway.
neals··on Building GitHub with Ruby on Rails
I apologize fellow human. The world has changed, the genie is out, and all that is left is bullet-point communication.
