ndjdjddjsjj··on Engineers do not get to make startup mistakes when they build ledgers
I feel there is no excuse. Startups cut all sorts of corners but why? Get rich at other people's expense?

The tech founder should know their shit prior to building it so that time and runway and deadlines are no excuse. Really if you are doing fintech you should have employment experience and understand all the operations well.

Otherwise they are no better than say home builders who mismanage and go bankrupt. Or less geneously, they are conmen.

I can't engage with this unless I talk politics... and my views (based on calling spades spades) wont be popular with anyone on any side ;). So will leave it there and say yes it is unfortunate.

r/leopardsatemyface sums it up though (although I don't blindly agree with all that is posted there)

ndjdjddjsjj··on Hetzner cuts traffic on US VPSs, raises prices
It does feel like a case of the Costco hotdog going up to $2 followed by "grrrr. Thats it! I'm..... going to keep buying it because it is still damn cheap!"

My main point is there isn't some Illuminati with access to good info you can't get for free.

In the drug analogy I am saying most addicts know about rehab. The conspiricy isn't hiding all the NA groups.

ndjdjddjsjj··on You can use C-Reduce for any language
I think the tool has some grammar info: C, C++, C#, Java, Go, JS are similar.

And that is enough when:

1. Most code in a code file is irrelevant to whatever specifc bug is being looked at.

2. It is removal of code at play not writing code.

Never done cold and been OK, but anything I care enough I would take to a professional dry cleaner anyway.
ndjdjddjsjj··on In Praise of Print: Reading Is Essential in an Era of Epistemological Collapse
Well just change your URL to something better, right. The curse is not the lack of information but the lack of will to change the channel from whatever feeds their (our!) biases.

ndjdjddjsjj··on A Washing Machine for Human Beings, from 1970
On/off would do! Just make delicate 30C all the things. If you need sterilization, use a powder that does that.

And their public mongodb hacked into 6 months later causing the company to go bust 12 months later. 18 months later there is a Github project that impersonates the server as a workaround.
ndjdjddjsjj··on Ask HN: Recommendation for a SWE looking to get up to speed with latest on AI
It also becomes easier. If you missed the early 2000s SOAP hype for example you ... just saved a load of time. Maybe stepping back you can avoid langchain etc. and various other workaround tooling and see what wins.
ndjdjddjsjj··on You can use C-Reduce for any language
An AST for you favourite language is readily availble so get one and go nuts.

I am sure in 2006 or so I was doing "extract method" in Resharper. And Lispers probably doing it for centuries ;)

ndjdjddjsjj··on You can use C-Reduce for any language
Docker saves the day again!
ndjdjddjsjj··on You can use C-Reduce for any language
The compile and test condition do the heavy lifting.
ndjdjddjsjj··on Float Self-Tagging
You need to check after the floating point operation though just in case. Or after the boundary where you pass the float to something else expecting this scheme.

I have an all in one with a perfectly good monitor on it's way to ewaste. Computer gave up the ghost (not worth repair as 15 years old).

Discovery plays are usually a tarpit idea though. Supply of founders high. Supply of customers low.

It is the equivalent of queuing up for an X-factor (or whatever they call it these days) audition, aiming to be the next One Direction. Someone will win of course which makes it seem possible.

Find the short queues! If someone says "why the fuck you interested in that" it might be a good sign.
