naz··on Foxconn to replace workers with 1 million robots in 3 years
You can build and maintain robots and factories cheaper in China.
naz··on Panic introduces the world's first emoji domain
You don't need an app. Just go to Settings > General > International > Keyboards and add the Emjoi keyboard.
naz··on Google+ for iOS is out
Depends, the 1st generation iPod touch is stuck on 3.1.3 which means you lose out on the newer, much easier to use and less buggy APIs
naz··on Ewww, You Use PHP?
Don't forget Mediawiki. Try to decipher the source to their wiki markup parser (or try writing a compatible one). Shudder.
naz··on The Capacitive Button Cult Must Be Stopped
Because there is an IR proximity sensor which turns off the screen when your head is against the phone
naz··on Coffeekup
Agreed, we should write everything in binary
naz··on Admin of irc.lulzsec.org Arrested in UK
I agree, an example of British English is treating a company as a plural as seen in this tweet: http://twitter.com/LulzSec/status/81400729583108097
naz··on EFF and Bitcoin
It's possible that some of the addresses that donated to the EFF were single-use throwaway addresses which the original owners may not still have the keys for
naz··on Why I've built an alternative to Github
The Github ruby gem ( https://github.com/defunkt/github-gem ) provides a nice command line interface to the Github API.
naz··on Regarding Objective-C & Copland 2010

   NSString *myString = @"This is a" @" string.";
Adjacent string constants are concatenated by the preprocessor. Otherwise, I don't think it's too much hassle to call stringByAppendingString:.
naz··on PSN Restoration Begins Now – PlayStation Blog
Does PSN have any nines at this stage?
naz··on Lockitron (YC S09) Lets You Unlock Your Door With Your Phone
Presumably they use SSL, so no it isn't vulnerable to replay attacks.
naz··on Show HN: Restaurant POS system built completely on iOS
Looks interesting. I especially like the idea of using Bonjour. There is a missing closing tag on the "click here" anchor tag on the Get a Quote page
naz··on Voyager Set to Enter Interstellar Space
We've already solved that with reproduction. We need to figure out how to out-live our planet.
naz··on Dropbox Attempts To Kill Open Source Project
> ... the substantial information disclosure and possible misappropriation of sensitive documents that it could have facilitated

They match duplicate files with an SHA256 sum and size in bytes. With those two factors, the probability of a collision is incredibly tiny and impossible to exploit usefully. If you tried a trillion combinations you might find a useless file, but by then you would be detected and banned from Dropbox.

naz··on GitHub passes 2M repos, 1M projects
Also mercurial is more popular with the Python community so they are underrepresented.
naz··on Jellyfish Simulation using Javascript, WebGL
Movies have motion blur which smooths out the judders of a low framerate
naz··on Another sign that Twitter may be scaring developers away
But Facebook started off with a non-technical audience and Twitter started off with an extremely technical audience
naz··on Another sign that Twitter may be scaring developers away
Maybe it's just a sign that Twitter is reaching a broader, less technical market. Compare Facebook to Facebook API on Google Trends and the latter barely registers.
naz··on Glasnost: Test if your ISP is shaping your traffic
In this case, Virgin is giving higher priority to streaming video or lower priority to everything else. Traffic shaping works both ways.
naz··on +1’s: the right recommendations right when you want them—in your search results
I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, Google should have done this years ago, even if it had no effect on result placement, think of all the data they could have collected. On the other hand, the big appeal of Google is the simplicity and minimal clutter, and this is just another useless (at least on the first search) thing added to the interface.
naz··on MIT's artificial leaf is ten times more efficient than the real thing (Wired UK)
By what definition of efficiency? I'm sure a leaf costs much less energy to produce than one of these.
naz··on Quadrocopters juggle balls cooperatively
Yes. They tried to send in robots to observe and help the liquidators move debris at Chernobyl, but they didn't last very long. It isn't so much the radio signal as the electronics get damaged very easily by radiation.
naz··on Major Canadian ISP admits throttling World of Warcraft
I think for the same reasons as the US. Entrenched, equally-terrible service providers who co-conspire in their shitness. It's just magnified because Canada is so vast.
naz··on AT&T Cracking Down on Free Tethering via Jailbroken iPhones
It makes it easier to offer unlimited data if you can ban all the ways of using lots of bandwidth.
naz··on Why 'Secret Questions' Suck as a Security Measure
Facebook is quite clever about this. To verify your identity under some circumstances, Facebook shows you pictures of your friends and asks you to identify them. It is up to you to figure out the best way to authenticate your users.
naz··on IOS 4.3 Nitro JS engine disabled for full screen apps and uiwebview
I think Hanlon's razor applies here. A lot of people will be slating Apple for sabotaging non-native apps, but it's really just a bug.
naz··on Why Everyone Is Talking About Node
Where does the author get the idea that JavaScript is easy? As a Ruby and Node developer, JS is much harder. Fewer libraries, less syntactic sugar (e.g. 3.hours.ago, 3.times) and a prototype object system.
naz··on Poll: How Would You Feel if Hacker News was Shut Down?
HN's biggest feature is the community. Everything else is bloat.
