nawfalhasan··on TypeScript 3.6
Why so? Genuinely curios from a guy who knows neither.
nawfalhasan··on Progress in performance and scalability with CockroachDB
Thank you..
nawfalhasan··on Progress in performance and scalability with CockroachDB
Not an easy benchmark..
nawfalhasan··on Progress in performance and scalability with CockroachDB
I'm totally new to cockroach so I have 2 questions..

1. Is there a managed service of this db where it auto scales, does geo replication etc all by itself?

2. Is there any really good book on cockroachdb?

nawfalhasan··on ReactOS 0.4.10 released
Can someone briefly tell me what is the main USP/focus of this OS?
nawfalhasan··on If a project helps you, please give it a star
I don't star projects if they help me or if I use them. I star if I like them.
nawfalhasan··on Show HN: Chromely – Lightweight Alternative to Electron for .NET and .NET Core
Excuse my ignorance, but is this written in a .net language that transpiles to js runtime or this written in HTML/CSS/js that transpiles to .net runtime? I'm probably missing what is electron.net and similar platforms.
nawfalhasan··on Goby: A new Ruby-inspired language written in Go
>One of our goal is to provide web developers a sort of small and handy environment that mainly focusing on creating API servers or microservices

How does it explain the motivation behind creating another language? What were the reasons the developer/team behind goby thought existing languages/tools didnt help? My questions are also about how different goby vs ruby is, or goby vs go. I also question if the language is dynamically or statically typed, etc which are bare minimum I expect in introduction.

nawfalhasan··on Goby: A new Ruby-inspired language written in Go
Unless you explain the motivation behind yet another language, it's hard for people like me to like a new thing. How is it different from Ruby? Just concurrency support? How is it different from Go? Just ruby syntax? Is the language statically typed or dynamically?

Additionally I would like to see some syntax examples at the start as well.

nawfalhasan··on Reusability take on React vs. Binding.scala
http://www.stefankrause.net/js-frameworks-benchmark5/webdriv...

Performance perhaps slightly lower than React though.

nawfalhasan··on Ask HN: Any OOP language which enforces / encourages purity / immutability?
1. I get the difference you're talking about between an instance (identity based) and a value. My question is exactly about a value based oop language, more like 'Value Oriented Programming Language' with modelling and patterns similar to oop languages. C# has struct types, so does many languages which have mechanisms to disallow state mutation but they are all optional. You can pretty much do oop modelling with them all.

2. On Ruby, is it possible to have functions on hashtables, just like methods on objects? Is it possible to define a Person hashtable and a Car hashtable and type system pick up the difference? It would be a hack to code like that if idiomatic Ruby code is not built around hashtables.

3. I see your point not to get hung up on dot syntax, my question was out of curiosity. I do like object modelling and wished if I could continue with a paradigm I'm so familiar with without its warts (side effects).

nawfalhasan··on Ask HN: Any OOP language which enforces / encourages purity / immutability?
Thanks. Will play around with it.. Heard similar things about Rust, F#, etc. Will spend some time on them all.
nawfalhasan··on Show HN: 100,000 Database ops/sec in IE6 on 2GB Atom CPU
Holy... ~5M ops/sec on Android!!

How did you test it on Android? On stock browser? Or on some sort of default web view control? Does that mean an Android phone is more powerful than a cheap Atom computer?
