nathantross··on Forget virtual assistants, Asteria wants to be your AI friend
The idea would be that the Asteria device learns to interact with you in social norms, like how you would act. And with that, some locations are better than others, but it really evolves to converse with you in your daily life, to help fill your needs.
nathantross··on Ask HN: What did your 'Show HN' project turn into?
This is really a great platform. I'm adding my projects now. Keep building guys!
nathantross··on Side Projects
Hey this is Nathan, co-founder of Baqqer. Just to echo what Dan just said, we built baqqer with the idea that individual creators/makers/developers/designers should be able to test out their ideas with minimum effort to see if they have legs. Unlike Kickstarter where users need to have their product costs down to the penny, we let users build community and long-term funding around their ideas(side-projects) until they prove the model. This allows for pivoting, product recognition, and idea validation. We see ourselves as a pre-kickstarter platform.
nathantross··on Show HN: Baqqer – A crowdfunding community platform
Besides crowd-funding your projects, it is also a tool for you to show off your process and the steps involved. That way you can also grow users while you raise funds. So if your project/product fits into that space, we'd love to see it :)

And this is Nathan, would love to know if you would use this for anything you're making.

nathantross··on Equity for code: Late Labs
Well it was worth a shot. Maybe next time it will get more voices.
nathantross··on Equity for code: Late Labs
What do you think about Late Labs? Would you use it as a developer?
nathantross··on Will you leave your job to join the sharing economy?
Interesting. I wonder if doing this is a sustainable job market for people long-term.
nathantross··on Developers: Earn Equity for Your Code at SF-Based Late Labs
That's our long-term goal for developers. Think of the projects we'll let developers work on as creating a diversified portfolio of equity. A developer can either work on one project and take more of a lead position, or work on multiple projects over time (from Late Labs and from other startups we partner with), for a specific equity base. We know how much time and effort building a site/app takes, so we understand. And I've seen so many "facebook clones" proposals over time so I know the feeling, where the team tells you that they potentially have a 1Billion user market. We're going to keep away from that and focus on smart business and marketing strategy :)
nathantross··on Developers: Earn Equity for Your Code at SF-Based Late Labs
Do you like the idea of working on a project for equity that's more managed with other developers? And why? And would you use this as a learning experience?
nathantross··on Developers: Earn Equity for Your Code at SF-Based Late Labs
This is Nathan from Late Labs. Our goal as a company is to create a community of high level developers who can work on projects together. We are also playing around with the idea of using successful existing companies to let developers work on project together for them. What type of horror stories have you worked on? I know we all have these, our goal in the long run is to help make sure developers don't wast their time on projects that aren't stable :)
nathantross··on Developers: Earn Equity for Your Code at SF-Based Late Labs
Hey, I'm Nathan, one of the people working on LateLabs, and I definitely agree that there are infinite project possibilities for developers to work on. Our goal at Late Labs instead is to create a unique type of community that will allow high level developers to work together, and learn from each other.

Ofcourse, I do love the Opera app for iPhone, which is a lot faster then the Safari standard.
nathantross··on Should FB be blocking friend sharing with G+?
Here's a another hacking example of how to get all your FB friends onto Google+, but the question I'm wondering, should FB even care? I've seen a few things here and there that FB has set up to block things like this. Thoughts?
nathantross··on Is this a sign of the future of books in general?
Borders is going out of business, the Kindle is now selling rental books to students: http://mashable.com/2011/07/18/amazon-textbook-kindle/

Is this a good thing? Or will books never disappear?
