I haven't read the actual study, but this write-up helped me understand the climate change denial phenomenon more clearly. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/talking-apes/202012/...
APRA is the Australian music copyright organisation (https://www.apraamcos.com.au/)
ECAD is the Brazillian version.
VCPMC is the Vietnamese equivalent.
Not sure about the others, but basically these are the people with whom a composer registers their work. These organisations work together by forwarding royalties collected within each territory to their rightful owners.
I am a member of APRA and very much doubt that someone got away with registering a Beethoven work as their own.
Very curious indeed. I have no explanation.
[Edit] You are only meant to register your work in one territory, so it is odd that this 'work' would be registered in four of them.
Lets all fight amongst ourselves about government versus FB while the real winners remain invisible.
Using Smalltalk (particularly Pharo) has been an eye-opening experience for me.
Its interesting to see that Amber has a Boolean class which I suppose corresponds to the JS boolean primitive. In other Smalltalks, I've seen a wonderful design where True and False are subclasses of Boolean. This way, there are no conditionals in the implementation of ifTrue: and ifFalse:
As another poster mentioned - in Kenya, waste plastic is commonly burned on the side of a road. Turning it into bricks is an improvement on this.
As a materials engineer, I'm sure she has the UV aspect worked out.

I think the only way forward here is to generate electricity as cleanly as possible. That way we won't get bogged down in arguments about amazon's terawatt-hours being more worthwhile than those of facebook or bitcoin.
Its also nice to know that a low price point doesn't automatically act as a bad-player magnet.
I'd love to know the types of sites they hosted. Anyone here have the skillz to find out?
My bet is on slimming tablets and viagra sales.
Each time this happens, I stand in awe of the brilliance of bitcoin - not so much the details of UTXOs or hash magic, but the choice of time base and halving intervals.
Its as if it were designed to be a FOMO feedback loop from the outset. The fact that its still working after so many boom/bust cycles is amazing.

It seems that Google only uses 10.6 terawatt hours.

Add Facebook's 5.1 and you get the amount of power required to kill half of the planet's productivity.

That logo is brilliant.

I'd be interested in seeing the hate ratio between 70TB of that site's posts versus an equivalent volume of Twitter traffic.
In that context, and with folks with no regard for consequences in charge, an emergency decision to allow everything seems plausible.
The leading lorry shut down when recent earthworks caused an unexpected input.
Maybe the profit would make up for the pain - or one could indulge in a fantasy that the destruction would ultimately improve the human condition.
If my illusions were broken - even for a second - I would certainly die of shame.
