n6242··on Developer account removed by Apple
Having a warranty or a return policy is not a human right either, yet companies are obligated by law to do it (at least here in Europe) because otherwise companies would just say "you knew what you were getting when you bought it" and not give a damn as long as they profit from it, just like apple is doing here.

Not saying the kid can't be a genius, but grandparent discussing math with the kid and incentivising him to learn is probably a massive boost to his development. It's not the same as having to go to the library and teach yourself. Still, props to the kid though.
n6242··on The evolution of expert communities
While I personally really enjoy jokes I agree that they can add a lot of noise in online communities. I'd love to find a bunch of other "serious only" communities for other topics I enjoy, I'd then read the no-jokes ones during breakfast and the joke-filled ones in the evening. But it seems quite unlikely, unless I build an extension that filters content based on sentiment analysis or something similar.

Games are harder to compare as they're pretty active, it probably depends on the game.

I was thinking you could cover the moon in rotating mirrors to redirect the light to solar panels. And if they can be controlled independently, you can tweak them and basically use the surface of the moon as a giant display, who wouldn't want the moon to look like a giant Apple logo?

I only do it every few days but pretty much the same. I find it's too easy to lose track of how much I've been spending, so by doing it manually I always notice before it becomes a problem. It also helps me save because I notice right away if I get charged for a subscription I'm not using and I can cancel it.
n6242··on ‘Game of Thrones’ creator and other authors sue ChatGPT-maker OpenAI
I do have a plan B. The software engineer, the marketing guy and the maybe system architect of 10 years in the future are all the same person: me using AI tools.
n6242··on How to Do Great Work
Fifth type is when do something crappy but then someone else looks at it and for whatever reason they think it's great.
