n2parko··on Show HN: Pod the Road Again – AI audio stories for the coolest places in America
Excited to share a fun project my friend TK and I are building. We’ve been roadtripping together for 15+ years and are huge podcast listeners

One thing we’ve always wanted was the ability to “hear” the places we were driving through - to listen to undiscovered stories that you might overhear at a local pub. So we’re trying to build it.

Under the hood we’re using perplexity to research places ang generate transcripts, then passes to elevenlabs for the audio. Built with 100% with cursor, running on vercel

Would love the HN feedback, questions & ideas - this is an early prototype!

hmmm...were you able to click/search for the company?

check this out: https://www.cdr.fyi/purchaser/microsoft

Good question!

CDR.fyi aggregates purchases, deliveries, and verifications of carbon removed and stored for more than 100 years

CDR.fyi does not track things like "avoided emissions" (like switching your fleet from gas to EV) or lower-permanence solutions (like planting trees)

(Methods show up on that chart when you hover, but good UX feedback there :)

depends on how many tons you're willing to make and whether you follow science-backed protocols :)

yes, CDR.fyi only tracks high-permanence removals (v. low-permanence solutions or avoidance)

appreciate the feedback! we built CDR.fyi to answer a very simple question:

how big is the CDR market today and are we on scaling at the pace necessary to achieve global climate targets?

n2parko··on Live dashboard of carbon dioxide removal purchases
Co-founder of CDR.fyi, thanks for all the feedback and love for what we're building!

Carbon removal is definitely a unique market in the early innings, and our goal is to provide transparency into the market at it scales.

One important note: CDR.fyi aggregates purchases, deliveries, and verifications of carbon removed and stored for more than 100 years

hey vyrotek - you can definitely build that report using Segment sources + BI tool.

Our salesforce source pulls in the Salesforce `Opportunities` and `Users` table (your sales team members). So to get sales by sales rep, you can join the `Opportunities` table to `Users` table, and then aggregate by sales rep.

Once you get the raw data into your data warehouse, you have a ton of flexibility with how you aggregate and analyze it.

Yep! You can use those BI tools on top of your Redshift or Postgres instance :)

No problem! They're not yet on our near-term roadmap, would you mind submitting a request for your specific database here and we can keep you updated? https://segment.com/contact/integrations
n2parko··on Warehouses – Load Your Analytics Data into Redshift and Postgres
Hey there! You’re right, we launched Redshift to our enterprise customers last November. There are three big changes today…

1) We’re lowering the price and opening it up to all our customers to make it more accessible 2) You can bring your own database. This is helpful for customers who already have a data warehouse and want to load Segment data into it. 3) We now support Postgres, in addition to Redshift

Hey HN — Segment PM on the project here! Happy to answer questions.

Under the hood we're using NSQ as a queuing layer, S3 for storage and batched uploads, Amazon Aurora (for S3 indexing), DynamoDB for billing and metadata storage, and several distinct Go services that handle batching, transformation, schema updating, deduplication and internal consistency checking.

It's been in beta for several months and we're loading about 10,000 events per second into customers' databases today.
