mxschll··on Walking Men
It is current. Source: I live in Berlin.
mxschll··on Twitter Viewer – View Twitter Without Account
In the EU, EU-Alert exists. They can push alarms to any phone with that system.
mxschll··on Rate My Manager
In my opinion, anonymously rating people instead of approaching them directly is neither constructive nor courageous.
mxschll··on Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines
From now on, I am going to bring an unreadable AI looking sign to every concert I go.
mxschll··on Notion releases offline mode
Local-first becomes even better in combination with local LLMs.
mxschll··on Show HN: Rankl – A Daily Ranking Game for your Coffee Break
That's a good idea, thanks!
mxschll··on [dead]
sorry... you can place notes, and when the playhead passes through, they get played
mxschll··on The average college student today
I'm glad I completed my bachelor's before ChatGPT existed. Now in my master's program, I find myself increasingly dependent on AI. It's gotten to a point where professors grade using AI, so no brain-to-brain exchange is happening — just AI to AI.
mxschll··on German parliament votes as a Git contribution graph
Yea, I learned my lesson!
mxschll··on German parliament votes as a Git contribution graph
I would also like to know. The German government actually has a decent API for accessing countless parliamentary documents, but it doesn't make the data very accessible to normal people...
mxschll··on German parliament votes as a Git contribution graph
Getting actionable insights.
mxschll··on German parliament votes as a Git contribution graph
I learned early on it doesn't matter what's inside, but how you present it ;)
mxschll··on Show HN: OpenDataCapture an electronic data capture platform for data collection
I like the gateway concept as an alternative to opening the firewall. Are there any plans to add FHIR compatibility, for integrating with other FHIR systems?
mxschll··on SteerMouse
I love the style of this website's content and layout. Informative, straight to the point, pleasant to look at.
mxschll··on Google preemptively banned hundreds of millions of 'pirate' URLs last year
Lol sorry, I missed your sarcasm before. I thought the EU would actually upload this themselves for some bigger purpose. I interpreted too much.
mxschll··on Google preemptively banned hundreds of millions of 'pirate' URLs last year
If they were using it to educate people about the consequences of piracy, I could understand why they would host that, but that's not the case here. What is the purpose of this?
mxschll··on Mullvad Browser
> FWIW, using amiunique.org I am unique on FF, Safari, Mullvad, Chrome, and Edge on a M2 Air.

Not sure if this is representative. According to their website, they have collected about 2 Million fingerprints. Firefox accounts for 42% of those fingerprints, which does not reflect the global market share.

mxschll··on CEO: Using ChatGPT cuts the time it takes to complete coding tasks to a few days
In my experience GPT/Copilot cannot handle difficult programming tasks that have not been addressed before. Moreover, when it comes to utilizing modern technologies that are not covered in the model's training data, they become unusable in my opinion.
mxschll··on This blog is hosted on my Android phone
Laravel was the first framework I ever used. Until now, I haven't come across any other framework that is well-designed, and enjoyable to use as Laravel (and made PHP fun). I always assumed Laravel was the standard, but sadly that it's not the case.
mxschll··on This blog is hosted on my Android phone
Should've used PHP instead of Node.
mxschll··on This blog is hosted on my Android phone
Just learned about pinggy.io. Neat little service! I wonder how many requests/second that phone can serve. Nowadays, phone specs aren't too bad for a simple web server.
mxschll··on How to Entertain with Your Pocket Calculator (1975)
This book contains tricks that break down seemingly complicated operations, such as the equation ABCD*9999 = ABC(D—1)(9—A)(9—B)(9—C)(10—D). Although it's valuable to understand the logic behind these tricks, they could also help students who struggle with math in school.
mxschll··on Language models can explain neurons in language models
> We are open-sourcing our datasets and visualization tools for GPT-4-written explanations of all 307,200 neurons in GPT-2, as well as code for explanation and scoring using publicly available models on the OpenAI API. We hope the research community will develop new techniques for generating higher-scoring explanations and better tools for exploring GPT-2 using explanations.

Aww, that's so nice of them to let the community do the work they can use for free. I might even forget that most of OpenAI is closed source.
