I'm a software engineer based in Denver, CO. Professionally, I work with mobile technologies and architecture -- maintaining a custom microfrontend framework and leading iOS development at TrainingPeaks. Personally, I work on computer-generated music, watercolor painting, and play guitar in a post-shoegaze band.

I write about music and software at https://blog.mwksl.me

I play with AI and art at https://moodmix.app.

mwksl··on Meta's Hack (HHVM) language appears to be no longer maintained
I find it interesting that it’s still getting a few github stars monthly[1]. I wonder if that’s organic discovery or an appetite for an alternative PHP?

mwksl··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (February 2023)
Just a heads-up: I tried applying for a frontend engineering position locally in Denver, but the job application form only allowed for the selection of New York or Boston as the location.
mwksl··on Palantir Moves Headquarters to Denver from Silicon Valley
The reception of this move appears to be... mixed[0]. As a Denver resident, I'm interested in seeing if this moves some larger offices out of Boulder and into Denver. Boulder seems to be suffering under the weight of zoning laws[1], but Denver seems to be capable of expanding, or at least adapting[2].

mwksl··on Show HN: Detoxify – Kicking out a bad habit? Track it with this
Did you base the habit-building in the app around any particular methodology or research? Or, is it just any replacement is good replacement?

I'm not sure if there's a golden rule to helping those with addiction; I'm just glad that developers are exploring this arena.

mwksl··on Ask HN: Do you carry a backpack? Which one?
I carry a Tom Bihn Synapse 25. This bag seems like it never runs out of room, and I couldn't be happier.
mwksl··on Cisco to lay off about 14,000 employees
That's a logical pivot; I'm slightly surprised they didn't try beefing up their extended support or doing a soft rollout first. Did they lay any groundwork or expectations for migrating their platform?
mwksl··on Setup Keybase.io, GPG and Git to sign commits on GitHub
To continue the chain of invites, I have 22 available. You can contact me at matthew at leaguer [dot] io
mwksl··on One-third of SF Bay Area residents hope to leave soon, poll finds
It's also particularly interesting to compare this growth now with city desirability immediately post-recession: http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2009/01/29/for-nearly-half-of... . I can't say with any certainty that the desirability has gone up or down for people living outside the Bay Area, but this may be another "cycle" that San Francisco goes through.
