mvcosta91··on Study: Young users (9 to 18Y) ditch Google for AI, with unknown consequences
To be honest, the only way to make it more efficient is to use it more, creating an economic incentive to improve the system as a whole. The cognitive impact on future generations is far more important than that.

mvcosta91··on The TEMU-Fication of Software, Digital Goods and Services
It was circa 2012, and a coworker bought a drone but received an Invisible Bra instead. The unboxing guaranteed the loudest laugh we ever had.
mvcosta91··on AI agents lie, cheat and steal. That is putting off users
Internet comments are essentially documented bar talk, and once you realize it, you stop angrily arguing with strangers all day.

mvcosta91··on Throwing AI-generated walls of text into conversations
I have a friend/coworker that is verbose af (14min audios discussing something that could be compressed in 100 words) and is not that we’re not interested, but it gets annoying after years and years of text walls.

Being concise is an art by itself and it’s a really good way to express your thinking and convince people, it just needs practice.

mvcosta91··on Ask HN: How are you all staying sane?
Seconding this. I only heard about Iran bombing 23 hours after it happened. I was playing SimCity 2013 with my 7yo. I’m reading older books, playing older games, exercising, and keeping a loose eye on AI so I don’t fall too far behind, but I always wait about two months before adopting anything new (like Claude Code, new tools, etc.). I know that’s pretty superficial, but the goal is staying sane, right?
mvcosta91··on Building for an audience of one: starting and finishing side projects with AI
Forget both of them and throw everything at my boi Opus 4.6.
mvcosta91··on Vitamin D and Omega-3 have a larger effect on depression than antidepressants
“God, I see what you’re doing for others, and I want that for me.”

I had a very similar experience, except it killed my libido, so I chose to endure the suffering of Winter rather than live with emotional numbness.

Still, I strongly recommend it for people flirting with the abyss. It was life-changing for me while I was raising an autistic 2yo during the pandemic.

It looks very interesting for integration tests

They also control their own hardware stack with TPUs.
mvcosta91··on Neopets.com changed my life (2019)
Ragnarok Online private servers communities did pretty much the same for me. We were very die-hard on PHP, MySQL, C and ancient JS/CSS.
mvcosta91··on Astrophotographer snaps skydiver falling in front of the sun
Try to reproduce it yourself, bro.
mvcosta91··on Ask HN: LinkedIn Down?
I hope so
mvcosta91··on Our efforts, in part, define us
I’ve been in the exact same boat for a decade. What helped me was working out; it’s pretty much a hobby now. Endorphins are a hell of a drug.
