Willful blindness can satisfy the criminal intent requirement. Might be hard to prove, but it's possible.

Yesterday I tried to buy a light bulb for my kitchen hood on Amazon. I searched for 130V 40W light bulb. I ended up buying a 120V one because I gave up trying to find the one I wanted. I think I'll run over to the hardware store next time.

We don't need to ask at what level are clients responsible for contractors health, wellbeing, and (most importantly, which you missed) negligent actions. These are all well established law. What needs discussion is if we should plug the loopholes Amazon uses to treat these independent contractors as employees while avoiding exposing their deep pockets to lawsuits. Either they treat them like contractors or they assume responsibility for their actions, but you can't have it both ways.

They want the government to ban foreign and open weight models, which pose the largest threat to their massive investments. This is their way of showcasing the dangers of AI.
