muixoozie··on What is vibe coding? How creators are building software with no coding knowledge
> It's just like the infinite monkey theorem, hitting the enter key repeatedly without understanding the actions and eventually reaching their goal.

Reminds me of this https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S277318632...

>Non-trivial text generation during the lifespan of our universe is almost certainly impossible.

muixoozie··on Do-nothing scripting: the key to gradual automation (2019)
Lol Reminds me of Brain Will's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM1iUe6IofM he has a series basically ranting about this. One of them he goes into examples simplifying needlessly abstract code.
muixoozie··on JetBrains Fleet drops support for Kotlin Multiplatform
Same. I've only used collaborative tools like Google Docs with other people exactly once in college for a group report. Naturally we procrastinated so long that we were knocking it out the day it was due. I must say it did a good job adding momentum.

Other than that never in my professional experience as a programmer. Except for open source work I was helping with. 3 of us would meet on Jitsi main contributor would sometimes share an SSH session with us in addition to streaming live coding sessions. Don't recall it actually being useful though. Dunno. It's probably one of those features that if it works well and is easy, then I might use it more.

muixoozie··on I'm Done with Ubuntu
NixOS. Takes the fear away due to atomic upgrades and rollbacks. Lot of people can't get pass this language nix though. GuixSd is an alternative to check out. There are other immutable distros too if you're looking for something less radical.
muixoozie··on Trae: An AI-powered IDE by ByteDance
Was going to say it's mostly been great for me. At least until recently trying to try out deepseek r1 it's not been great. I can't tell if it's the router or the provider..
muixoozie··on Trae: An AI-powered IDE by ByteDance
You should check out openrouter if you haven't already.
muixoozie··on Does current AI represent a dead end?
I had a similar experience recently.

Not sure how accurate these numbers are but on https://openrouter.ai/ highest used "apps" basically can auto-accept generated code and apply it to the project. I was recently looking at top performers on https://www.swebench.com/ and noticed OpenHands basically does the same thing or similar. I think the trend is going to get much worse, and I don't think Moore's Law is going to save us from the resulting chaos.

muixoozie··on Llama-3.3-70B-Instruct
>storage being 'a feature, not a product.

Somewhat unrelated mini-rant. Upgraded a phone recently after about 3 years. Surprised to see storage still capped around 128GB (in-general). That's got to be artificially held back capacity to push cloud storage services?

muixoozie··on Chegg is on its last legs after ChatGPT sent its stock down
>Idiocracy come to life

I'm not the only one think of this movie recently

muixoozie··on Typing fast is not so important
Link is not loading for me.
muixoozie··on How I write code using Cursor
Wondering how the JetBrains gets the context of the library? Is it fetching cargo docs somehow or are you having to paste docs into a context window?
muixoozie··on Tesla's Cybertruck is outselling almost every other EV in the US
Wow had no idea there was a name for this. I rented a jeep in Colorado once and noticed other people driving jeeps waving (peace sign) at me while driving to Alma from Denver. First time I've experienced anything like that. Think I've motorcyclist slightly wave at each other before. To be honest I'd probably wave too if I saw another miata driver in Texas, but that's about as rare as seeing a lifted Japanese compact truck.
muixoozie··on Math is still catching up to the genius of Ramanujan
> sxe

Weird. First time I've ever seen that (abbreviation?) For straight-egde. Thought you were talking about some supplement at first.

muixoozie··on Kagi Update: AI Image Filter for Search Results
Cancelled my sub recently. Not because I don't like it, but because I'm taking a break before starting my next job and wondering if I can get by without it.. Guess only thing I don't like is their cheapest tier is just slightly under my usage and the next tier is unlimited (more than I need).
muixoozie··on A Kubernetes Query Language
Reminds me of fizzgig https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSnzoeZMljM
muixoozie··on The brain simulates actions and their consequences during REM sleep
Have you tried a sleep study? My life has been spiraling down the tubes until recently. Sleep apnea will wreck your life.
muixoozie··on Slackdump
For real.. Zulip exists
muixoozie··on Deep Live Cam: Real-time face swapping and one-click video deepfake tool
Only things I can think of:

- streamer goofing around.

- Perhaps something like this could be used to map your facial expressions onto video game characters in real-time.

- could take tictok style social media to the next level of absurdity. make me into a meme. Ghana says goodbye etc.

muixoozie··on Tzero: Social Timeboxing for IRC Channels
Yea Pomodoro is a timeboxing technique. However, I don't think it has anything to do with allowing scope or quality to slip. I can be what you want it to be (e.g. just a reminder to take a break). I did it for a while in Emacs, only while at the computer for those types of tasks. I didn't stick with it though. However, I still use it for short tasks where I want to know how much time I spent on the task (like a programming puzzle). I think mostly it's supposed to be a mind hack or gamification to encourage productivity. Come to think of it, I might give it another go for things like updating my resume which is a task I've been putting off for a while.
muixoozie··on Tzero: Social Timeboxing for IRC Channels
I think you have a good point. I'm sure there are caveats, but something about it does seem superficial.

Is there a sort of Hawthorne effect [0] due to timeboxing where others can observe?

muixoozie··on Oscar, an open-source contributor agent architecture
Have you tried to apply for GitHub Sponsors? Kinda surprised to see aider.chat is solo maintained. I keep seeing it as one of the best at what it does. Though I haven't tried it out much. I'm waiting for NixOS packaging of it [0]. Note someone wants aider bad enough they put a bounty on it getting packaged in nixpkgs.

muixoozie··on CrowdStrike Update: Windows Bluescreen and Boot Loops
Remote access control (e.g. iDRAC) or physical access.
muixoozie··on Who's got the guts to go to the moon?
Fair enough. I do use ublock on Firefox mobile. Just enabled all the filters not enabled by default and I'm not seeing it anymore. Modern Internet is a dumpster fire.
muixoozie··on Who's got the guts to go to the moon?
Am I the only one that immediately nopes out of articles that have popups / subscribe. The article has to really be on a topic I care about to take the time to x those out.
muixoozie··on Ask HN: Struggling with poor memory and executive function. What to do?
Get a sleep study.
muixoozie··on Brew-Nix: a flake automatically packaging all homebrew casks

muixoozie··on Sleep apnea linked to brain and memory problems
Whatever you do don't start taking Ambien / zolpidem. Solved nothing and now it's hard to quit. I recommend checking out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YV_iKnzDRg TLDW sunlight in the morning good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slLP3ZxGXHU tldw: you may have apnea and not know it. Better to catch it early on.
