Very happy with my A770. Godsend for people like me who want plenty VRAM to play with neural nets, but don't have the money for workstation GPUs or massively overpriced Nvidia flagships. Works painlessly with linux, gaming performance is fine, price was the first time I haven't felt fleeced buying a GPU in many years. Not having CUDA does lead to some friction, but I think nVidia's CUDA moat is a temporary situation.
Prolly sit this one out unless they release another SKU with 16G or more ram. But if Intel survives long enough to release Celestial, I'll happily buy one.
For me it's amphetamine. I have severe dehabilitating ADHD-C and lisdexamphetamine has completely changed my life.
On the other hand, if like me, you have ADHD and weight issues, it could be more helpful. Because it could treat your ADHD enough to help you actually establish and follow a structured diet and exercise regime. Especially if your ADHD includes impulsivity. The last time I was on lisdex treatment, I lost about 5kg from the initial boost, a lot of it was probably water weight. Then I managed to cut about 30kg later with calorie counting and regular cardio.
So the physical effects themselves are largely a pisstake.
Funnily enough I actually play the Italian as white, but I don't play the boring c3 d3 lines. After 3. Bc4 Bc5 I play 0-0 and on Nf6 play d4. exd4 e5 transposes to the Max Lange and Bxd4 Nxd4 Nxd4 Bg5 gets into the Italian gambit which is very sharp. My main issue is that on 4. 0-0 d6, d4 doesn't really offer much. I've been playing a "deferred Evans" with b4 and getting some fun positions that way though. I'm also working on learning the minutiae of 2. Bc4 so I never have play a Petrov ever again...
I guess I'm stuck with the Sicilian. If anyone knows a way to make the Alapin wild and tactical as black, I'm listening.
I guess technically it's supposed to play some role in making sure OpenAI "benefits humanity". But as we've seen multiple times, whenever that goal clashes with the interests of investors, the latter wins out.
For instance, for buying drugs, the ordering isn't the risky bit. Receiving it in the mail is. Even if tor was magically "100% safe" the crime overall wouldn't be. The point of using tor is not to eliminate all risk, it's just to decouple payment from reception. I had my drugs intercepted by customs once, but they couldn't prove I ordered them, so they dropped the case. I'm sure it might've been possible for them to prove it if they spent a lot of resources trying to trace crypto transfers and so on, but police only do that if the fish is big enough because they're resource constrained.
Tor is just another tool criminals can use to reduce risk. It's not perfect, but for most things it's the best thing available.
It's also silly to imply that simply doing some philanthropy somehow washes out anything bad you might have done. Often philanthropy is precisely a PR exercise to distract from that stuff.
As for naming accounts, it's not just "naming criminals". It's effectively equivalent to sharing CSAM if I'm telling people specifically where to find it. Even if I knew where, which I don't, I'd prefer not broadcast that information. And I'm not sure why you're so eager to learn specific account names. It's a pretty weird thing to ask for on a public forum, honestly.
I don't know any such accounts because I don't go looking for such things. It's just a well known fact that Twitter has a CSAM problem. A quick google search will show you plenty of media coverage on that fact. It's also well known that moderation on Twitter has suffered under Musk due to massive layoffs.
Of course, most of this porn stuff is never seen by most users because it's not favoured by The Algorithm. I'm just pointing out it's definitely all there. As far as legal porn I'm generally in favour of it being allowed on most platforms.
Twitter is kind of a cesspool, really. Even more so post Musk.
It seems obvious to me that Meta's moderation is mostly about pretending just enough for regulators to go away, and no more. Hell, Meta probably indirectly makes money from these scams by targeting more scams at the people who fall for them, at a premium. Meta makes money, scammers make money, regulators are content. It's a win-win-win.
I'm not particularly interested in spending a lot of time posting on reddit. But very occasionally I'll come across a thread I can contribute meaningfully to and want to comment. Even if allowed I'd probably just make a couple comments a year or something. But I guess the site isn't set up for that, so fuck it.
Now I always google around a bit before applying any fresh Windows updates to see of there's any breakage reported.
I used to use mplayer(of which mpv is a fork) to watch pirate streams of premier league games several years ago, via acestream. Since this was live, lag was a real issue; you can't buffer ahead when there's nothing to buffer yet. Eventually I figured out that mplayer had settings to do things like buffer for 2 minutes at the beginning of the stream before playing. You could also configure it by megabytes pre-buffered. This solved my lag issues very neatly. I can't remember what the settings were, it's been a long time and I don't have those config files anymore. But it should all be in the docs somewhere.
Second, what would they be testing? Drugs for their condition? That wouldn't apply to the type of situation necessary for euthanasia under Canadian law[2]:
>To be considered as having a grievous and irremediable medical condition, you must meet all of the following criteria. You must:
1. have a serious illness, disease or disability
2. be in an advanced state of decline that cannot be reversed
3. experience unbearable physical or mental suffering from your illness, disease, disability or state of decline that cannot be relieved under conditions that you consider acceptable
If there was an experimental treatment that might actually help them, these criteria would not apply.
If you're suggesting safety testing of drugs for other illnesses, that's extremely unethical and I seriously doubt the medical community would be willing to do it, even with consent. And I seriously doubt a number of people large enough to give meaningful results would consent in the first place. It's also of dubious usefulness because any treatment intended for disease X might have its safety profile and risk/benefit analysis altered by the presence or non-presence of X.

My own hypothesis is that cats catch prey and play with them for a while as a way of getting more training per kill. They probably find some enjoyment in it, which is likely evolved as an incentive to practice. Cats are certainly well known for their playfulness, which tends to be stronger at a young age.
I suppose both theories might be true at different times, depending on the context or the prey. I guess mice aren't particularly capable of doing any real harm to a cat.
