Did they? My entire argument is wrong if Microsoft sold excel as a tool suited for genetic research.

Then blame their employer (especially if it's a billion dollar medical company) if they are so easily lead a stray.
msh··on Scientists rename genes to stop Microsoft Excel from misreading them as dates (2020)
I dont really get why every tool must be suited for everyone.

If excel (which was absolutely not designed for genetic research) is bad for genetic research purposes why blame microsoft.

Its like a craft man complaining that a screwdriver is a bad tool if your job is to put in nails.

There was several OG fantasy D&D adventures by Gary gygax that involved the adventures exploring a crashed spaceship.
msh··on On a Tesla: Don't
No, its allowed to stop for emergencies. I agree that having a dog on the back seats is not an emergency but the intended purpose of the alarm would be having someone on the back seat who could not fasten their seatbelt. I don't know if that would count as an emergency in a German court but I certainly would count it as a emergency (and it would be illegal).
msh··on On a Tesla: Don't
So do buttons and sticks. Esp if it's not buttons you use all the time.
msh··on On a Tesla: Don't
If there is a passenger without a seat belt I think most places you are supposed to pull over ASAP to solve the situation.

It it not more the producers and sellers of 3G handsets that should be blamed if they kept selling 3g phones after the end date for 3G was announced?

There is an easy way to get your Data. It's just kind of hidden.

It's works the same way as Google Takeout. To get to it do this:

Sign in to your Apple ID account page at appleid.apple.com on a Mac, iPhone, iPad or PC. Go to “Data & Privacy” and select “Manage Your Data and Privacy.” On the following page, go to “Get a copy of your data” and select “Get started.”

msh··on War of the workstations: How the lowest bidders shaped today's tech landscape
I think the author confused lowest bidder with producing something people could afford. For all their weaknesses micro's could be purchased by normal people. You could not produce a lisp machine or alto equalent in the 80' that it was possible to afford for regular people.
msh··on Apple partly halts Beeper's iMessage app again, suggesting a long fight ahead
At least in my experience most of the nordics is mostly iPhones and WhatsApp is somewhat rare.
msh··on Apple partly halts Beeper's iMessage app again, suggesting a long fight ahead
It is how it works, after a certain timeout where it can't be delivered to a device it will fallback to SMS. The exact length of the timeout is not public.

msh··on Apple partly halts Beeper's iMessage app again, suggesting a long fight ahead
Only if you have another iOS/macOS device receiving them at home.

If you don't receive iMessages it will automatically fall back to SMS (unless the sender specifically turned that feature off).

I think saying its US only is oversimplifying, its at least also true in some european markets.

msh··on GM says it's dropping Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because they're unsafe
Sounds great with apple podcasts!

My main issue with spotify is that the syncronization is not great (and there are no audiobooks, at least in my market).

For example, I am listening to a podcast at work during the morning. Then some hours later I get in the car to drive home and want to continue the podcast, but often spotify would not be up to date with the current listening position in the podcast and I have to manually try and find the right location.

msh··on GM says it's dropping Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because they're unsafe
But it lacks good media apps for podcasts and audiobooks unfortunately.
msh··on GM says it's dropping Apple CarPlay and Android Auto because they're unsafe
It would be useless to me personally.

I hate radio. I don’t listen to much music. When driving I mostly listen to podcasts and audiobooks which sounds like is not really practically possible.

msh··on Epic vs. Google: Google Loses
I think a company going around saying "we are a open system you can do what you want with our product" and then making secret deals to limit that openess is worse than a company from day one saying we are selling a 100% locked down solution, take it or leave it.
