I have side projects in Rust, Javascript, C and many other languages. I've worked back end, front end, embedded, built massive web-scale distributed systems and one off prototypes.
Yes I'm short apple (as of August 2025 $206 average price)
I certainly would never ever buy from that brand again. I don't know how they expect to have repeat customers. Judging from what I've heard though it sounds like they're struggling to get first customers and the new "cars" are just pilling up.
Between the car scams, the housing scams etc we could be facing a pretty steeply deflationary environment in the next couple years. I can't imagine the banks will continue financing this insanity for too much longer.
These companies deserve bankruptcy.
This could get a lot worse before it gets better.
I don't think there's an app that lets you just edit arbitrary files which can be read by other apps or transferred to/from the watch with something like ssh, just these weird canned things that depend on network services run by Apple and/or the particular developer.
EDIT: You sound like you're in agreement with me. I feel like I should point out that the Amish seem to manage without spending billions. I'd be willing to bet its not their rejection of technology but some deeper social understanding they have.
Also people keep throwing the word "AGI" around but the only definition I've heard is "being as intelligent as a normal person." We've had that for a while. The reason most of you don't accept it is because it's not actually a person which is the same reason you're not going to see some civilization restructuring event from AI.
One huge advantage of this (beyond better networking) would be that apps could use existing IP APIs which would help abstract away vendor/implementation specific problems and improve adoption.
Note that this doesn't necessarily depend on a tier 3 network so you could still accomplish your goals. The internet already has enough features to support partitions and local discovery.
You of course still have to have fixed administrative domains but in reality you always do. Someone takes initiative and sets up the group chat/gets their friends into it. I think if you're willing to mentally separate the network topology from the administrative topology this could be solved.
Of course that's really boring. It's just MDNS and ad-hoc Wifi plus some routing. Everything is pretty much already there (although iOS probably won't let you do it, as usual.)
Hopefully people remember this for next time.
It sounds like a joke but that is exactly how it works and many people have forgotten it.
That's why I'm so surprised they have fiber all of a sudden.
It's some small company I never heard of before, back when I lived there Verizon got a ton of government money to do this and just never did, everyone was pissed about that.
EDIT (can't reply): Have you never run a business before?
Dating apps are weird because you can't have repeat customers without failing to deliver. With literally everything else repeat customers are what you want to optimize for. If your AI product fails to deliver your customers can't integrate it into their operations and you'll lose them eventually. That's a disaster.
Any codebase that's difficult for me to read would be way too large to use an LLM on.
You have to get a special blue book with a couple blank pages and then write an essay with the prompt that's given at exam time. Then you turn in the book at the end of the exam. I think it's a great idea and was surprised more classes didn't work that way but I guess it's like you say: grading written assignments like this is a lot of work.
