mrud··on Show HN: The Channels SDK – Bring Any Agent to Any Channel (Slack, MS Teams)
I have been using eve - https://eve.dev/ recently and it was just really nice and well thought out. It also supports TUI, github and other non chat channels.

The integration and abstraction with sandboxes, cron etc. is very nicely done but you still can self host it.

mrud··on Show HN: Devthropology – Better Insights for GitHub Repos
I really like the idea of showing dormant areas of a project but also using git history to identify areas which are changed together. This could be useful for AI agents or understanding health of larger mono repos.

What is the most surprising thing you have seen in the data? Who would be buying/using this?

mrud··on MicroVMs: Run isolated sandboxes with full lifecycle control
ramp i think just prebuilts the image/snapshot with the latest checkout version regularly [0]. do you think putting it into the image would address it?

mrud··on Dynamic Workflows in Claude Code
I think they have vaults[0] which provide it. I don't think this is available on the non platform side.

mrud··on Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros
This is on Netflix not Apple. They enabled it this by accident and reverted it back https://www.theverge.com/news/613307/netflix-apple-tv-app-su...
mrud··on Grok 4 Fast now has 2M context window
IMO yes. It is less polished but IMO the model is way better. I moved over from claude completely and cancelled my max subscription. Less polished, slower but the results are better and you have to do less steering
mrud··on Apple Exclaves
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42260379 has more details on some of the history.
mrud··on Docker October 2022 Pricing Change FAQ
For us it is docker desktop. Developers use mostly Mac and getting everyone to switch to something else takes time for testing, documentation, roll out etc.
mrud··on Decoding AWS Reserved Instances
You should talk to your account manager but for non ec2 services we have been successful with exchanges by explicitly asking for an exchange for a similar/larger amount.

We had to buy the new reservations first and would then could cancel the old ones

mrud··on Ultrasonic Payments
Same thing with zoom rooms - https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/214629303-Direct-s...
mrud··on Walkthrough of UHC’s claim reimbursement form game
I have an insurance where you have to submit your reimbursement forms via mail. For some reason this has been quite challenging to me (printer, stamp, envelope etc.) and I didn’t submit things.

A provider pointed me to reimbursify which made it way simpler as you pay per claim and it just mails the reimbursement to the insurance. I think this reimbursify may be also helpful in cases like this if you want to speed run your reimbursement submission :).

Note: I am not affiliated with reimbursify but just a happy customer even though the UX&app are somehow clunky. Still better than the other options.

Rapid7 | Boston, MA / Austin, TX / US Timezone | Cloud Optimization Manager / Senior Software Engineer Cloud Optimization

Rapid7 is probably most well known for Metasploit but also develops various SaaS security software. All of our SaaS systems are hosted within AWS and we are starting a new team focused on improving the architecture of our software to be more effective and resilient. This is not your typical rightsizing, adding S3 lifecycle rules, managing reservations. This is a team which focuses on hard problems across on our data processing pipelines to make them more efficient.

You will be working across different product teams and collaborating both with engineering teams, finance and leadership to introduce changes and provide visibility.

You should have great Java knowledge and a good understanding of AWS (AWS pricing would be a plus).

mrud··on Preparing to Issue 200M Certificates in 24 Hours
AWS provides already free certificates. It doesn’t use ACME but also AWS ACM supports auto renewal if the host name has been dns validated.

Initially these certificates were only supported for load balancer and cloud front but with the Secure Enclave you can use the certificate also on an ec2 instance.

mrud··on Ask HN: What's a side project you built to make money that hasn't?
Income Sharing Agreement. I think they are mostly used by coding boot camps. The idea is to pay a percentage of the salary for a fixed time/amount. It probably depends on the price of the sessions if this makes sense
mrud··on Salesforce Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Slack
They are officiall and we use our own slack instance. We have an internal dedicated slack channel with our aws team i(technical account manager, solutions architect etc) as well. It can be handy just for organising meetings etc but it is really hit and miss depending on your account team. We are on an enterprise plan.

It definitely helped to have a faster turn around time and provide more visibility for people.

mrud··on Dynamic Route53 records for AWS auto scaling groups with Terraform
We run our reverse zones on route53. It is just a little bit cumbersome but overall works relatively well with vpc private hosted zones.

mrud··on AWS Organizations: Centrally Manage Multiple AWS Accounts

No, it seems that they were building the same thing, except of directly controlling and managing haproxy (via socket or template) it will only create a new template
