mrmlz··on An opinionated critique of Duolingo
Well German and Germany took a significant hit after WW2, you will face the same disgust for a generation or two depending on you future behavior.
mrmlz··on Boeing has started working on a 737 MAX replacement
I loved my N9, truly one of the best experiences i've had with a mobile phone. I've watched Sailfish from a distance but their very limited choice of phones have always been off-putting.
mrmlz··on Lördagsgodis (Saturday Sweets)
Or you know - the myriad of world changing inventions, Nobel prize, insane amount of popular music, musicians and producers.

But yeah keep focusing on skincolor :)

mrmlz··on Wikipedia loses challenge against Online Safety Act
My point being - i might agree with SDs migration policy and not much else. I might agree on Ms taxcuts etc. etc. But I still have to pick and chose the lesser evil.

Maybe 8 parties narrows the lesser evil down a bit.. But they all end up in coalition anyway so I'm pretty sure i get the same amount of evil as in a 2-party system.

mrmlz··on Wikipedia loses challenge against Online Safety Act
Sweden has more parties than two and it's the lesser evil here as well - in what world would a party perfectly align to every single thing you like?
mrmlz··on Honesty Boxes in Scotland (2024)
Depends on the tourists...

Oh i've been using frigate with a Coral-usb stick for a couple of years now and the project has been progressing nicely.

It has a very nice integration with homeassistant.

mrmlz··on Why common climate messaging backfires
As someone who has travelled in India, Indonesia etc. the plastic straw BAN in Sweden is just absolutely laughable, add to that the new EU-innovation with retard-plastic-lids on every bottle.

I mean - I'm all for reducing the need for oil and the amount of waste.. But jesus christ get a grip on what's useful and what's borderline contra-productive.

mrmlz··on Forests offset warming more than thought: study
I mean... this cannot be a surprise to anyone that a physical object affects wind?
mrmlz··on 4chan Sharty Hack And Janitor Email Leak
I've never seen balls touch in a locker room so definitely not gay.
mrmlz··on Tariffs, Saving, and Investment
Good post in general - a question though.

"But we can go even further. How about household appliances? The fact that nearly every US home has a dishwasher and washing machine and dryer means far more Americans are able to work further increasing productive US output than without this “consumption”."

So what is the US currently producing? Software yes... and then?*

I know you produce other things as well, but from a growth perspective.. Whats driving your GDP?

mrmlz··on The dark side of the Moomins
I agree there is a scene with the Groke when everything freezes and the moomins are inside their home.. That was freakishly scary.

Other than than the Moomins are pretty great. I got the branded coffee cups now (even with the Groke!)

mrmlz··on The dark side of the Moomins
................

Well I certainly had nightmares about that...

mrmlz··on I'm the Canadian who was detained by ICE for two weeks
US Border control is always worse than any EU-country (as a white EU-resident I might add). We have lots of umlauts in our names äöå etc. which can seriously mess up you ESTA or travel booking unless you double and triple check :)

But still India had the absolute worst border control I've ever experienced. I probably rather sleep on a cold prison floor a couple of days than having to manually reenter all my information eight times!

mrmlz··on Microsoft's 1986 IPO
Wow what a great point.
mrmlz··on Teen on Musk's DOGE team graduated from 'The Com'
In Sweden that's public information except medical status.

So I can call the IRS - get the date of birth and tax declaration, i.e. income from work and income from capital of anybody (except those with protected identity).

Address and date of birth etc. you can just check any map-site lite hitta.se.

mrmlz··on Teen on Musk's DOGE team graduated from 'The Com'
Sweden - public records.

My X-feed is better now than before . I don't use the website but the app so i haven't encountered the bugs you mention.

But as always you need to curate the ones you follow to get a "for you" that's interesting.

mrmlz··on UK's hardware talent is being wasted
Well to be fair if you add "validation" the turnaround for any noncomplex piece of software can reach months pretty quickly as well.

But yeah I'm not gonna argue that sw isn't faster than hw in 99% of the cases.

mrmlz··on How Britain got its first internet connection (2015)
I've never heard of NORDUnet - but googling it seems to be the international facing part of the more (in Sweden at least) famous SUNET!

mrmlz··on Programmer in Berlin: Culture
They should give me a discount for being well behaved in their restaurant.

mrmlz··on The Waterfall Model was a straw man argument from the beginning (2015)
Waterfall has feedback in it. You got to zoom in on the development V-charts to see it ;)
mrmlz··on Starlink Defies Order to Block X in Brazil
Reading this comment compared to your first - I'm having even more trouble understanding what you are really on about.

The first comment you initially agreed with the move then later lamenting on how the rich/elites can ignore what other countries decide, them being "above the law".

Musk is in this case _not_ complying with censorship in Brazil - correct? Musk has most likely complied with censorship in other countries - correct?

You initially agreed with him? Then going on a triade that he is childish and that his move will block communication for 99% of the people of brazil (this part I didn't understand until you clarified in your last comment). This is what i commented on in my first reply - that the action you where OK with but then he is childish i.e. FORM and probably his personality. So unless I misinterpreted you - then yes, I think that is a worthless attitude to have which derails society.

"If an individual thought himself above the law, or will of the people in DDR, I would have been on the wall. My father still has a part of it btw." - Well right, so you agree with censorship as long as the majority supports it or something like that. I don't on a fundamental level and i absolutely do not agree with you at all. But if those are you opinions then i don't understand why you'd see it as an attack when someone points out what you seem to believe/argue?

Because i absolutely attack/challenge your opinions which i do not agree with. With the caveat that i've misinterpreted what you are actually saying.

mrmlz··on The Engineering of Landfills
I mean if "heat" is the primary product burning this is kind of nifty. And producing electricity at the same time is a bonus. Letting wood etc. rot releases CO2 as well.
mrmlz··on Interviewing Tim Sweeney and Neal Stephenson
I really liked Seveneves - i.e. the first part of it - the secondary add-on story fell a bit flat to me.
mrmlz··on The Engineering of Landfills
We got that as well in Sweden - but we use water. Its part of the central-communal heating system that heats a large of the city.
mrmlz··on Starlink Defies Order to Block X in Brazil
I dont believe he is altruistic - his actions in this instance is however positive and i enjoy seeing that.
