mrhottakes··on LinkedIn Adds "Seems Like AI Slop" Button on Every Post
It's going to take so much time to click the "AI Slop" button on every post.

> Let the problems be solved. Let the pie grow as big as possible. Then cut everyone a slice.

Why would everyone get a slice in a capitalist system? Context: the history of capitalism.

mrhottakes··on UEFA and its national associations will not participate in FIFA competitions
On HN? The capitalist/libertarian/Elon posters, Meta employees, etc.
mrhottakes··on UEFA and its national associations will not participate in FIFA competitions
Good. Good riddance.
mrhottakes··on Does every question mark deserve a Betteridge?
I say no.
mrhottakes··on Building a long‑term base on the Moon will require extensive planning
The US can't manage domestic plans beyond a few months out, an American moon base will never happen unless Elon decides it's the new perfect location for his ethnonationalist feudal harem.
mrhottakes··on Apple won't let me show my app
I don't think "X The Everything App takes a long time for review" is a useful point of comparison, Elon Inc. isn't sending their best.
mrhottakes··on Ask HN: Why call it "inference" instead of just "model hosting"?
Inference sounds cooler and more mystical. Any old company can host something, "running inference" requires 10x rock star engineers and a CEO that acts like a badass who wears a leather jacket and has Thoughts about demographics.
mrhottakes··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
We're winning so much, we're getting tired of winning

wearing a lab coat and safety glasses and mixing cool looking liquids in a beaker Oh, I certainly would.

> they're not just ripping the outputs of another model that someone else invested billions to train.

True, they're simply ripping the inputs that humanity invested thousands of years and trillions of dollars to produce.

mrhottakes··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
So as long as Kimi added value to Fable, it's fine? Sounds good.
mrhottakes··on Nobody knows what a used GPU cluster is worth
Did an AI make all the text and kerning so ugly? Why do web sites look like this now?
mrhottakes··on Which streaming service was that on again?
Have you used any of these? Most of them are awful and not useful at all. JustWatch is alright but is succumbing to enshittification.
mrhottakes··on Which streaming service was that on again?
Like most of Apple's software, it's extraordinarily annoying. It may or may not surface what you searched for, it may or may not deep link into it, it may or may not be entirely wrong. Just a huge waste of time, "free" is too expensive.
mrhottakes··on Which streaming service was that on again?
Streaming in 2026 is a disaster, I'm happy to pay but piracy is just easier.
mrhottakes··on “We have information that Moonshot distilled Fable for the development of K3”
Good. If Fable is really so smart, it wouldn't let itself be distilled.
mrhottakes··on Airbus Full Scale Foldable Wing Extensions
The headline is just clickbait, no such product exists to be videoed.
mrhottakes··on AI Coding Will Prevent Expertise
That's what makes it such an attractive tool to the capital class: expertise is a means of production in software, and capital cannot abide a lack of total control over those means.
mrhottakes··on Ethics Is the Skill That Matters Most Now
Excellent post. Interesting that "ethics" is something society expects from normal folks, but the Big Important Leaders never have that concern.
mrhottakes··on Ethics Is the Skill That Matters Most Now
Incorrect, "ethics" is a good way to get laid off
mrhottakes··on Most Americans say "not in my backyard" to AI data centers
They're just awful to live near; the folks that are clamoring for more cheap tokens should try moving in next door to the token factory.
mrhottakes··on Physical Media vs. Digital Media
It's less convenient for sure, but I miss the days of DVD collections and big binders in the car full of burned CDs. It was a pain, yes, but you knew what you had.
mrhottakes··on FDA rejects petition to set PFAS limits in food
It never went away; now they call it "therapeutic phlebotomy"
mrhottakes··on The revenge of the philosophy majors
To be fair, AI is also a very alluring tar pit for the technical.

> This article seems high on vibes, low on metrics.

That's the in-house style for the WSJ

mrhottakes··on 98% isn't much
That's what a lot of people would call a "bad business decision"
mrhottakes··on 98% isn't much
Plenty for who/what? I think you've assumed a bunch of facts that aren't true for every situation.
mrhottakes··on Why I'm Forced to Say Farewell: Google Management Has Lost Its Moral Compass
I think it's good when people share their opinions. No snark detected.
