mrheosuper··on The newest ESP32 can run Linux and it's getting close to a Raspberry Pi
> a microcontroller will not have OoO execution

Similar to a lot of old cortex-A soc.

>multiple tiers memory

The S31 also has cache and sram, with inpackage psram.

> Usually they also lack an mmu

The S31 has mmu.

The s31 wroom-3 modules cost 40CNY from official espressif store. A significant more expensive than S3, but it brings a lot to table.

There are a lot of competitors in China, the BK7258 is arguably better than S3, but cost similar.

And if you are willing to sign NDA, there are much better offer from BES.

mrheosuper··on The newest ESP32 can run Linux and it's getting close to a Raspberry Pi
Few years ago we were experiment with a smartwatch that has "Wear-os like" interface. You can get really far with only 5MB of RAM.
mrheosuper··on The newest ESP32 can run Linux and it's getting close to a Raspberry Pi
There are a lot of competitors, in fact, in term of value the ESP32 is really bad.

The only thing Espressif does good is SDK support.

mrheosuper··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
Container ships getting rob by pirates all the times.

So unless those pirates have their own space program, it's pretty safe up there.

mrheosuper··on Owners mourn spoiled food after firmware update bricks Samsung smart fridges
Most people i know having old cars also have at least 1 modern car. The main reason they drive old car is the feeling. Either their childhood dream, or just nostalgia. "Modern car suck" is not on their top 5.
mrheosuper··on 'That's so AI ' What gen Alpha's biggest insult tells us
One of main reason i postpone having kid. I definitely don't want to bring my child to this current world. Unless i see some better future, i don't think i will change my plan anytime soon.

Wait people hate Xcode more than VS ?
mrheosuper··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 series
27k and 33k, in x86 this usually the difference between last gen and current gen.
mrheosuper··on Owners mourn spoiled food after firmware update bricks Samsung smart fridges
You really don't get it, right. The age is not a problem.

And let be real, the 60 years old car, while there are some aspects they do better than modern one, overall they are much worse than mordern car.

mrheosuper··on Owners mourn spoiled food after firmware update bricks Samsung smart fridges
This could escalate to much worse problem. Spoiled food can literally kill people. Yet the safety standard we put those "smart" fridge under is nowhere near medical device standard.
mrheosuper··on Can the US Build a DJI? A Teardown of Two DJI Drones
Why does it have to be a ton ?

Second, lifting a ton is possible with current hardware.

Third, this is not about cheaper or not, this is about it's possible or not(Also helicopter is cheaper is arguable).

mrheosuper··on The new CC, an AI agent built for families
Claude Code, in context of LLM/AI.
mrheosuper··on An update on how we confirm your age group on Discord
Sometime i dont want to reveal my age to "new friend on internet"
mrheosuper··on Can the US Build a DJI? A Teardown of Two DJI Drones
Really, exactly what that ?
mrheosuper··on Porsche puts wireless EV charging into production
They should have spent money on auto-pluggin charger, some kind of snake robot. Much cooler and environment friendlier
mrheosuper··on AI coding has made CI a bottleneck, so we reworked ours to keep up
I agree, look at the top token maxxer: Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, are there observable improvement ? Like the performance of Windows is still...not ideal, every Windows update still has some issues. If AI is indeed 10x, shouldn't we(end user) see at least 2x improvement ?
mrheosuper··on I don't want to read what you didn't write
I'm kind of okay with reading something you don't write(entirely). But reading something that you even neither write nor read? waste of time.
mrheosuper··on I don't want to read what you didn't write
After all AI is trained on human writting, the line is incredible blur now.
mrheosuper··on Raspberry Pi 5 EEPROM update now blocks manual RAM upgrades
Ah this suck, why does every company who goes big have to be hostile to end-user.
mrheosuper··on Why do we need human mathematicians anymore?
I wouldn't say that is "understanding". We must fully be able to explain to say that we understand it.
mrheosuper··on English: A vs. An
"Do you have any kids ?"

"I have the son" sounds odd, even if there is only 1 son on your mind.

mrheosuper··on Why do we need human mathematicians anymore?
how can we understand absolute everything and still don't know how it work ?
mrheosuper··on Samsung is expected to more than double output of its HBM4 and HBM4E DRAM
they expect the Chinese to bend their knee and beg for the sweet, sweet chip
mrheosuper··on Fixing an NZXT Signal 4K30 part 2: the green/pink video bug
> Claude also gave me back a command-line utility that reflashes the firmware using the DLL included with NZXT’s updater

This is surprisingly good. One of common question when RE is: How do we even read/write firmware.

mrheosuper··on Backups Aren't Simple
No, most(if not all) bluetooth controller has audio offload, basically the cpu does not involve(or very little) when transfering data from storage to radio.
mrheosuper··on Backups Aren't Simple
> People buying cameras today don’t want to send straight to Facebook.

Pretty sure that's the main point of Fuji camera, the output and built it filter is decent enough that you can upload to Social network without any editing.

mrheosuper··on Hackers Got Inside a Flock Camera
Just check, my 2YO phone runs kernel 6.6, not latest but i think good enough for production.

Edited: I misunderstood what you mean, you were talking about the modem subsystem, sorry.

mrheosuper··on Backups Aren't Simple
And harm a lot too, you phone can't deep sleep since it has to wake up periodically to process data from bluetooth stack. Combined with slow transfer speed, that gonna eat your battery like nothing.
