mrcorona··on Uber Eats removes delivery fee for Black-owned restaurants
>Why would they single out black people...

Black people are the least rewarded early investors in the startup we call the USA.

They have more right to be in this country than any group other than Native Americans, a large % are in fact descendants of native Americans but are not recognized as such due to a paper genocide and deportation program carried out by the govt of the US in the early 20th century.

No other minority group is in this position. Anyone who has studied the history knows the country still owes a tremendous outstanding debt to this group of people.

mrcorona··on America is giving up on the pandemic?
I think that is irrelevant to many of the protestors. Most know that black Ferguson, Missouri protestors started to mysteriously die weeks after the protests ended (suspect foul play), they know the state may target them for the rest of their lives, and many made peace with putting their life on the line for this cause -before- they walked into the streets.

>There are other ways to protest.

Feel free to share any protest ideas you have that keep them safe and achieve Civil Rights Act level reforms without requiring people in the streets making the powerful uncomfortable.

Thanks for the effort, this set looks really useful.
mrcorona··on America is giving up on the pandemic?
People living in a certain form of hell aren't afraid of dying of corona... I personally would rather die of pneumonia than 20 or so bullets to the back from an agent of the state operating with a hair trigger and impunity.

Do people really think MLK felt safe when he was protesting? He was brave, new assassination was likely, and still marched.

5 Plain clothed police officers break into your house and execute your wife or daughter in their bed, then say it was a mistake and walk away scott-free (no charges)...

Would you stay quiet and wait for the covid threat to die down before protesting or taking action?

Its a form of economic reparations. When it comes to all the forms of racism blacks have experienced over the past few centuries I find it funny that this is what offends people, "subsidized deliveries".

People still seem unaware of these basic facts... And we've had black history month for how many years?

The education system in America is truly lacking and it shows when it comes to the topic of race/racism which is a key part of our economic history and inextricably tied to the history and development of US capitalism.

mrcorona··on Uber Eats removes delivery fee for Black-owned restaurants
Black households have about $5000 in wealth. When considering the fact that they are owed 40 acres and a mule in reparations, remember that each black household should be worth upwards of $800,000 (~$20k per acre).

Ask yourself if education, poverty, healthcare, loans, housing, etc... would be an issue if they were actually paid what we all collectively owed them. I expect some portions of the racism would still exist but economic empowerment is always a potential gamechanger.

Seems uber is trying to help fix that gap themselves. I commend them for at least trying something novel.

>How is that a wonderful gesture?

There is an economic justice part of US racism that is not addressed enough if at all... Black people have been literally robbed of their income/wealth regularly and often for a few centuries now. If companies want to stand up and try to help repair this lack of justice that we all inadvertantly benefitted from, this is one way to do it.

Just because the government (for at least 100 years) continues to drag its feet when it comes to reparations doesn't mean individual companies can't step up.

I thought the jailed Canadians were spies...are you sure they are innocent?
mrcorona··on Huawei hid business operation in Iran after Reuters reported links to CFO
Canada is really playing this game badly, if they piss of India next they won't have much of an economic future as a country very soon.
mrcorona··on Huawei hid business operation in Iran after Reuters reported links to CFO
I mean as a country... during the covid period China sent tons of medical supplies to help sanctioned Iran. I also don't think we should lock up the execs at the medical supply manufacturing companies because they were doing the just thing.

I think most of the countries on the planet should start to ignore these US sanctions when they are based on nonsense, especially when the underlying reasons are "regime change" related. Start routing around the SWIFT system as well.

mrcorona··on Huawei hid business operation in Iran after Reuters reported links to CFO
Didnt we sanction Iran for no reason? Seems the right thing to do is ignore US sanctions when seeing unjust actions.

Really looking forward to overleveraged airbnbers, the kinds juggling 10 mortgages and causing housing shortages, to get blackswanned.

Are average HK citizens exposed to more police brutality than minorities and the poor in the US?

Our administration acts like that's the case (especially during the HK protests) but it doesn't ring true.

mrcorona··on SpaceX successfully launches two humans into orbit
During much of the Earth exploration phase destinations in Asia had more food and money than Europe (also easier to survive a winter)... I don't see this ever being the case with Mars.
mrcorona··on Hong Kong security chief warns of growing terrorism backing planned security law
HK is a US and UK mission to have a permanent colony in China. We can't really rebrand this exercise with any honest look at history.
mrcorona··on The China tea trade was a paradox of global capitalism
It seems exposure to western style business did cause this withdrawal. Sad truth is a democratic China is a lot easier for western capital to control remotely, hence the need to avoid this trap as long as the wise want to escape an updated form of recolonization.
mrcorona··on The China tea trade was a paradox of global capitalism
Is this quote about the foreign criminal activity in China?
mrcorona··on The China tea trade was a paradox of global capitalism
>so in effect, british imperialism, through a coerced opium trade, pushed china from capitalism to communism.

I agree with this sentiment. China in a vacuum would be more open than it ended up. Having to deal with bad-faith/dangerous neighbors would make you a more controlling parent as well.

>Reality is, US has been trying to contain China for over a decade now, it's merely very public and acrimonious under Trump admin because that's his style.

Reality is, US has worked with the UK to contain China for almost 2 centuries. Much of the development and excess wealth in both countries is due to these actions.
