mrcarrot··on Performance of ES6 features relative to ES5
I'm not sure I've ever seen anything described as being '1x' faster, without any fractional part. It's such an uncommon usage, I really don't think you can categorically declare that '1x faster means twice as fast'.
mrcarrot··on Killing SEO by Using Angular
I'd be amazed if anyone with no knowledge of Angular (e.g. the "marketers" that are apparently its audience) comes out of reading this article _less_ confused.
mrcarrot··on Handling server load for the Raspberry Pi Zero launch
In this case isn't it more the lengths they were going to to _not_ run Wordpress?
mrcarrot··on World on cusp of 'post-antibiotic era'
A 1997 documentary by a TV channel that didn't launch until 2002, no less!
mrcarrot··on Microsoft, stop sending user identifiers in clear text
Well they wouldn't be included in DNS lookups if they were not in the host name.
mrcarrot··on How does the iPhone 6s camera compare to other iPhone generations?
You know you can tap anywhere in the image in the default iOS camera app to expose for that spot? Or tap, hold and drag up or down to manually adjust exposure. Admittedly, you still don't see the shutter speed or aperture info, but it does give you some degree of control.
mrcarrot··on Porsche 919 – Racecar Engineering
Perhaps F1 is just a model number here? VW certainly don't supply any Formula 1 teams currently, and a 2014 spec F1 engine would have to be a V6, not a four cylinder.
mrcarrot··on “Thank You” in Hindi and English Mean Very Different Things
I think the parent meant "Yes, we use the french word 'merci'", not that he thought 'merci' meant 'yes'.
mrcarrot··on Sublime Text 3 Build 3080
Yep, it's CMD+D for selecting the next occurrence of the current symbol on OS X.

CMD+SHIFT+D is handy, too; it duplicates your current line.

mrcarrot··on Sublime Text 3 Build 3080
Learn how to use multiple selections.

On OS X CTRL + SHIFT + UP/DOWN will create a new cursor on the next line up or down. And you can CMD + LMB-click to insert a new cursor anywhere.

I cannot count how much time this feature saves me.

mrcarrot··on BBC is down
The Sport section manages to load the menus and footer now, but no content. Earlier it was just a generic 500 error page.

I actually can't remember the last time the BBC went down. I was a little worried something horrible had happened.

mrcarrot··on Waiting for the sea
I read this on my iPad this morning and, although I like the idea behind the presentation, I found it really annoying that when I scrolled the line of text I was reading to the top of the screen, it would often start to fade out while it faded in the next section further down the screen - it was like reading with the screen brightness turned right down.

Altough, looking at it again now from desktop Chrome, I can't reproduce this, even at a small screen size.

mrcarrot··on Lost Beagle2 probe found 'intact' on Mars
It wont be a very accurate adaptation if it is! Mark Watney's a fun guy!
mrcarrot··on Lost Beagle2 probe found 'intact' on Mars
I hadn't realised Colin Pillinger had died. I've found the news oddly affecting considering I never met the guy. :(

(For anyone interested in the background to the Beagle2 probe, 'Backroom Boys'[1] includes a great chapter on it, and Prof Pillinger's involvement .)

mrcarrot··on Disproportionately Common Names by Profession
The 'football coach' names you list there are all contractions of a name that would be at least 2 syllables long, though.

edit: (or yeah, what MichaelTieso said :) )

mrcarrot··on AngularJS 1.3.0
They did at least used to have a discussion/comments section on each documentation page, which I often found at least as useful as the actual docs.

And then they removed them, because, umm, maybe they were too useful, who knows! :(

mrcarrot··on Sony PlayStation Network and other game services attacked
In case anyone else is as un-down-with-the-kidz as I am, as far as I can gather, 'to dox' is a verb meaning to reveal personal information.
mrcarrot··on Devicons, an iconic font made for developers
.net magazine isn't about .net. It is (or at least was, I'm not sure if it's still going) a magazine about web development.
mrcarrot··on An Introduction to Programming in Go
I'm also seeing the weird text encoding stuff in OS X Chrome. For example:

  "of information – everything"
mrcarrot··on No more time limits on Spotify
Doesn't using Spotify on Sonos require a premium account?

If not, I'm not sure why I'm paying any more.
