mrbn100ful··on SailfishOS: A Linux-based European alternative to dominant mobile OSes
Comparing Jolla to Nemo with the argument 'actively developed' is a huge stretch.

Nemo is a great project, but only build by one guy (neochapay) in his spare time.

Jolla still has ~5 full-time engineers and a super active community.

Let's have a quick look:

Qwant France EU Hosting

Sure, but the search engine behind is monstly Bing.

Startpage Netherlands EU Hosting

Use Bing and Google

Ecosia Germany EU Hosting

Use Bing, Google Yahoo and Wikipedia

This is not how you build alternative platforms.

The only true Independents search engine are Brave Search and Kagi both from the US.

The EU can't compete, we are lagging behind.

mrbn100ful··on France's most powerful nuclear reactor connected to grid after 17-year build
"Resulting in a Level 2 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale."

A level 2 on the INES is an Incident. A major Accident would be a level 7.

A level 2 is not that bad : Impact on people and environment: Exposure of a member of the public in excess of 10 mSv. Exposure of a worker in excess of the statutory annual limits. Impact on radiological barriers and control:

Radiation levels in an operating area of more than 50 mSv/h. Significant contamination within the facility into an area not expected by design. Impact on defence-in-depth:

Significant failures in safety provisions but with no actual consequences. Found highly radioactive sealed orphan source, device or transport package with safety provisions intact. Inadequate packaging of a highly radioactive sealed source.

Entr'Ouvert's offering in 2004 was 500k€ or 0.4€ per users.

Fail to see how this is the "answer" for the Linux desktop. "Compatibility" is the third keyword yet, no Libreoffice, Chromium, Flatpak and a barely up-to-date Firefox ESR 91.

Also for the main page, "Security updates are nearly instant" fell like a big lie.

I also noted that the KDE GUI doesn't start in Gnome Box, but does in Virtualbox.

mrbn100ful··on Throwing in the Towel on Mobile Linux
On my Sony Xperia 10 II which has a 3600 mAh battery I have a full day of battery. My phone is 2 years old. I don't use a lot my phone, example today at 8h30 I had 100% and a 0h00 I have 58%. i did like 30 minutes of social media and 20 minutes of Google Maps + 1 phone call + email sync every 10 minutes with 3 mail box + proton mail in the back ground.

A good 4 hours on YouTube(android app) is easily doable.

mrbn100ful··on Throwing in the Towel on Mobile Linux
Sailfish is Linux, native root access.

It uses all the usual Linux build blocks (rpm, wayland,qt,systemd, pulseaudio ...)

Sailfish is a Linux distribution with a proprietary DE (built in qml, so modification are easy)

Did he try Sailfish Os ?

Honestly, it's the only Alternative Non-android based phone OS that works. I have been using it for the last 2 years and it works great. The android support works well enough that YouTube, my bank, waze work nicely.

Sailfish has a ton of great apps, the community is very active. Can't find a native app, android support is here.

And yes, it's not "truly" open source, but it's way more than android. Yes, android has an Opensource license, but good luck doing something that google don't want.
