moufestaphio··on The differences between English and Korean
Yeah, Hangul is pretty easy to learn. The sounds were a little trickier for me. Grammar is basically the same as Japanese.

I believe Duolingo released their intro course for Korean recently too if anyone wants to learn some basics.

moufestaphio··on Why Are Some People More Creative Than Others?
I think it's pretty well accepted that Men better at physical activities almost across the board. I don't think that's what the original point was about though.

The original question was asking for an example of a "genetically talented that they didn’t train" losing to someone who was a "pro" and this is clearly not an example of it.

That said, I'm not trying to make the argument that there aren't 'genetic' limits.

moufestaphio··on Why Are Some People More Creative Than Others?
Pretty bad example. Dude was a semi-retired PROFESSIONAL tennis player. Who had been ranked as high as 38th in the world.

He obviously had a fuck ton of training, was just 'retired' when he played the game.

With a whole bunch of Star trek voice acting!
moufestaphio··on Japanese addresses: No street names. Block numbers
Yeah, used to live in Japan and it was quite annoying.

The 'building number' having no relation to location is fairly useless. I generally had to explain through landmarks/obvious buildings where I wanted to go.

The whole system is pretty useless for giving directions.

It's better now with Smart phones (wasn't a thing when I first moved there), but still bad. Korea uses the same system afaik.

moufestaphio··on China Bans Bitcoin Executives from Leaving Country, Miners “Preparing for Worst”
It should happen right away I believe. As soon as the next block after the 2016th is accepted, the difficulty updates.

The transaction rate would only be affected for a max of two weeks as I understand it. As for how the 'market' would react if all Chinese miners dropped out, I have no idea :)

moufestaphio··on Bitcoin Is Likely to Split Again in November, Say Major Players
I think what he means is, when bitcoin / cash split, everyone 'doubled' their coins. Since they share the same previous blockchain, after they 'split' in effect you have two coins for every one coin you had before the split. You can spend your Bitcoin cash, while you still own the same coin in Bitcoin.
moufestaphio··on China Bans Bitcoin Executives from Leaving Country, Miners “Preparing for Worst”
No.

Bitcoin algorithm automatically adjusts every 2016 blocks, to make the average block time 10 minutes. If the number of miners drops, the algorithm will adjust the difficulty of finding a 'good' hash. Meaning as an individual miner you have a better chance of finding the correct hash, but the overall network has the same rate.

moufestaphio··on According to Japanese Traffic Lights, Bleen Means Go
There was an article I read a while ago on this subject that was pretty interesting:

moufestaphio··on [dead]
Yeah, I see this sentiment flowing around very often and I agree with you on this.

I prefer to think of it this way: The ability to rise above this type of thing is a part of what makes us human. Learning to not be bigot is something you have to do. You have to work at it always, it's not free.

moufestaphio··on Chess.com stopped working on 32bit iPads because 2^31 games have been played
Like when people say to IT: "Everything's working, what am I playing you for?!"
moufestaphio··on How “engagement” made the web a less engaging place
I'm conflicted on upvoting this comment, because if I do I'm just part of the problem right?
moufestaphio··on Show HN: Bitesnap – Deep Learning Meets Food Logging
Seems pretty neat so far.

Ditto for Korea. In the 80/90's they were the cheap Japanese knock offs for tech stuff like TVs etc.
