motbus3··on Former German spy chief arrested for attempted treason
In my country, they posted the news translated as: 'Spy chief is detained in counts of espionage'

I just wanted to share the journalism pearl.

> You can laugh at this notion, but this is really what Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Clinton believed would happen...

Why would anyone laugh when at some point political parties were literally killing people and feeding human meat to others there An unstable power in Asia could mean ruin for a whole economic system. It was only logic that stabilizing the system would, at least make the problem slow down for another decade.

I am not sure what Nixon really thought about it, but I think it is fair to say that's what happened.

I don't really get what possibly on what I said to be ASmt?

Edit: oh I see! You thought I said "the same evil people" and it. No! Totally completely not it. Lol. I did not even considered that it could be read like this. I don't believe that a religion of any sort by itself would do this.

Have you read The World Restored? The first part is boring AF, but we are living through a spiral of the send part of that book.

I understand nothing on the topic except a little more than the basics. So in your opinion there is no information in Claude's article that justify the title claim?

motbus3··on Spending on AI Is Becoming Almost Impossible for Businesses to Budget
Yes, but before you would have one specialist in each topic and time to process different possible outputs. Now it is "just do sh*t" because code is cheap. And people are slowing realising that code and doing was never the hard part.

"But models will get better". Maybe. But there has been a decline in the speed of development

A company I know well complained people weren't using enough and now that they mad everyone use it, it complains it is too expensive.
motbus3··on Improper redaction reveals Google Data Center water and electricity usage
I think that's true, but also is the corruption of allowing works going without enough preparation.

If I remember correctly there are a considerable number of cases where habitants said they would have increased price in their bills or some even saying that their supply will be cut short or completely.

And this is not even considering other problems such as noise, pollution, etc

motbus3··on Replacement of petroleum based products with plant-based materials (2025)
Adding to what you said, there is also a sudden scarcity that is partially real and caused by an oligarchy that took over in different places and caused world level problems and partially a fake scarcity done by extreme demand and intentional smaller production levels.
motbus3··on Improper redaction reveals Google Data Center water and electricity usage
Please elucidate if I'm wrong, but, isn't the problem the distribution of the water and not the amount? If you install a building of people in a road that is not prepared for that, all people down the people are in risk of lack of water.

I think at some point someone used the argument of the spoon of water to say about the quantity, but I remember to see explanations that it was unrelated.

motbus3··on I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken
You have a 50/50 chance on being the most profitable company in the world but if you don't, no worries, someone else will pay for that
motbus3··on I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken
Only if you buy the excuse why they are for-profit after years of non-profit.

They could only have stopped

To be fair, when it is good people copy anyway. All companies do benchmarks and analysis of competitors. The criticism of china was that you sent them a thing go produce and your design would appear somewhere else which could essentially bankrupt you business.

That said, I have the impression this still exists but is less and less relevant for them to keep doing it.

China is the one saying nations should gather and stop doing poo-poo decisions to economy while another one keeps saying that everyone else but them is evil.

I honestly think this scarcity and shortages are all artificial and caused by the same group of people. They don't even fake anymore

I don't know...

Tech bros pushed us to believe that disagreeing and arguing instead of voting is the right way.

So we are now distracted while they reshape the world with hunger and death

motbus3··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
I guess you are doing it. I asked what are your thoughts and you got triggered. Imho, you are probably just a guy who got fed up with stuff. On the other hand, I am willing to listen and talk to you about what I agree or not. I think you would be surprised if you know how much I agree on the matter and what are the points that I disagree.

Since you are being defensive, let me start.

I think immigration is out of control in some places. But I think people miss the part that any worker where you didn't put any cent on education and training and generated taxes and revenue is positive regardless of the salary. People are concerned about the benefits but 90% of people do not know that almost all of immigrants do not have access to them.

And yes, there are people who abuse the system, but they are not exclusively immigrants, and that's a crime and that should be treated by the correct law and not putting people with a single label to demonise them.

I think "ultra" right parties are a blunt. People forgot that they went off their roles because they screwed up badly.

But because of the asymmetry of communication between attack and defense, all their arguments seems plausible. That happens because people are fed up, like you. If they don't show the numbers you only get the blind spot.

For example, in UK, immigrants takes 9.5 billion on benefits. Which does seem a lot. But if you check the other side, they generate 140 Billion in taxes.

You still need to see the incomputable taxes, like an immigrant pays for rent, if the landlord is British, that does not compute as taxes from immigrants, which it shouldn't.

Another example, people complain about rent prices which rose anything between 25 to 50% in four years in big cities.

But the number of built to rent places dropped and most new constructions have been bought by funding schemes to be rent, which in all cases I know, results on price control.

It is easy to blame a group of people because that's low effort and appeals to emotion.

Anyway, I understand the frustration. Please let me know your thoughts. I would be happy to talk

motbus3··on When did Google get so weird?

motbus3··on When did Google get so weird?
Maybe intentionally. If you know you won't find things, they know you are going to use their ai just to not have to type it elsewhere. I am strongly considering kagi
motbus3··on When did Google get so weird?
I find it soooo funny that now Google will "know" you are ending a relationship with Dario due to him not finishing it.

Now talking seriously, it certainly added something to your "profile" which is nuts because that was not what you meant

motbus3··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
I agree that pr** should be banned from Japan. But he was used a tool against people who have nothing to do with him.

My black friends tell me that it is very hard to be taken seriously when your kin thinks that attitude is a matter of noise. One of them told me his relationship ended with his fiance because her father was "racist" and didn't believe he was one of the most well paid engineers in the state.

motbus3··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
No it won't. Because Japanese folks did not want that job before and will not want them later.

You need to be dull to not see that get trained adults that you never spent a cent in education to generate revenue and taxes and have no access to benefits is not a great deal.

Well, it is easy to be blind when you let a racist speech take your eyes.

motbus3··on There's a 100% Chance AI Agents Are Ruining the Internet
The company I work for proudly provide a free and premium tier of service where we do strive to give great quality even for the free tier. The idea is that people over time will understand what we want to achieve and they will see the benefits of supporting a health business model.

I am disillusioned about it, because agents have been huge part of the traffic and all they do is to spend our money but generate absolute nothing positive.

people have been considering to simply close all doors but one person who has quite important hat and believes it would be very negative to people who needs the free tier the most. (And who is also the one with more to loose than everyone else...)

I guess that's the end of the collaboration era as we expected. "Those" people taking everything away and giving nothing back but crumbs that they will soon take from us too.

I agree with you. Maybe the person from the first comment read first few pages only which basically give some context.
