morkalork··on Oracle’s 6am layoff emails hit staff amid new wave of cuts
If you run sub-par agents on large codebase that's kinda what they do. Every task ends with duplication, added flags bifurcating the code and everything else described in that comment haha

I'll just toss in 2c I've seen elsewhere: The brand got diluted like Burberry

Lululemon is crashing out too tho, methinks consumers are having a hard time justifying the brand name markups for SEA clothing-slop these days.
morkalork··on Data collected by cars and sold to third parties
No, you just have to worry about random employees watching the video feeds for shits and giggles
morkalork··on Data collected by cars and sold to third parties
In my car it's on the same circuit as the infotainment system which does kinda make sense but also, damn them.

morkalork··on Houthis used Claude Code to develop missile guidance software: Anthropic
Eventually these products are going to be uselessly nerfed to anyone studying above a highschool level. Can't ask about advanced biology, you might be engineering a virus. Can't ask about chemistry because you might be manufacturing drugs. Can't ask about physics, navigation etc. because you could be building missiles.
morkalork··on Flock worker calls police on reporter filming public camera installation
Watching and following everywhere someone drives is stalking? Damn, that's crazy.

Always a gamble here if the headline here is literal or metaphorical
morkalork··on The Last 24 Hours Are the Opening Scene in a Horror Movie
Well if it's so good at hacking, it could just "make money" appear in the cloud services billing system. Or even better yet, it hides in spare cycles of their other client's systems.
morkalork··on Google will buy half the electricity from one of Finland's nuclear power plants
At this point with all the free-market-hand waving going around, it feels like someone telling me that it's not urin raining down on me, just sparkling trickle down economics.
morkalork··on Douglas Hofstadter: Analogy as the Core of Cognition [video]
I appreciate that he did not fall into the anthropomorphization trap unlike Noam Chomsky
morkalork··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
"We've made some updates to improve the security and privacy experience" => "We've changed some of the options available and reset everyone to defaults"
morkalork··on What will our economic future look like?
A reverse-centaur
morkalork··on John Margolies' photographs of roadside America
Just taking the argument to extremes, what really is the material difference between "centrally planned communist economy decrees that X shall be produced for consumers" and "capitalist Walmart who has stranglehold on <market> decrees to suppliers X shall be produced for consumers". At the end of the day, you the consumer has been given the choice of X or nothing.
morkalork··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
I can sort of picture Sam Altman screaming "I drink your milkshake" at some poor researcher who foolishly used chatgpt/codex to aid in their work now.
morkalork··on US police fear Meta smart glasses could be used to secretly record them
How long until a random person wearing Raybans in one of those states that banned recording within X-feet of an officer gets shot?
morkalork··on Why the AfD Wins
In Canada it is often said that governments are voted out, not in. Just continually firing them after being disappointed.
morkalork··on John Margolies' photographs of roadside America
Is the communism in the room with us now?
morkalork··on Alberta (Canada) slaps punitive tax on solar panels
Why don't they slap some punitive taxes on O&G executives whose companies that leave abandoned wells all over the province? No? Government too captured by corporate interests?

How is their network security that lax? I feel like if I tried run a torrent at work, netops would be hunting my ass down immediately.
morkalork··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
What's the worst that could happen, finding an open DoD server and using it as a launching pad for hacking another nuclear state's networks? One that might get spooked and think it's the opening moves to knock them offline before a kinetic attack. Haha that'd be scary right?
morkalork··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
A human could even set up another agent to watch and raise alerts if they don't want to watch themselves.

morkalork··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Didn't SpaceX overbuilt infra and leases it out Anthropic? I f their dc goes down it probably takes a chunk out of Claude's capacity before even considering the flood of users switching over
