momothereal··on Atlassian moving to cloud-only, will stop selling server licenses
GitLab pretty much covers BitBucket (code), most of Bamboo (GitLab CI), maybe Jira if you use it only as a basic issue manager (forget about Agile stuff).

Confluence is probably the hardest one. You could use any wiki software but the new "live-editing" stuff (Google Docs style) is pretty good for productivity. Hard to find an on-prem equivalent. Confluence's integration with Jira is hard to compare too.

You might be more interested in something like Go, which has a less punishing compiler.
momothereal··on Running GitHub Actions for Certain Commit Messages
The yaml config is perfectly suited for small/toy projects, which is probably what GitHub intended. Even in larger projects I've never had to use the scripting language.

On the other end, we now use Jenkins (the newer version), so every job is a huge Groovy script pretending to be a config file. Much steeper learning curve for anything simple.

Pick your poison.

Is there a good spot to suggest missing icons?

I know there's a Pro offering to upload custom icons, but I can think of a few crucial resources that are missing. Off the top of my head:

- Cloudflare

- Kubernetes (there's icons for a lot of its components, but the main logo is missing)

- Resources that can be run on bare-metal/on-prem: nginx, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, ...

Or is the intention to only show commercial cloud logos?

Edit: also a few bugs I noticed in the search bar:

- Can't Ctrl-A (select all)

- The (x) button doesn't do anything

I was actually in the Puok district outside Siem Reap for the 3 weeks. Mostly stayed in the rural side living with locals. I also visited the city for the weekends and it seemed like a great place to settle.

I also don't tend to go out of my way to meet peers in my local city. I guess I just prefer larger conferences for networking.

Thanks for the input! Maybe one day I'll also get acqui-hired and move there :)

Off-topic. I visited Cambodia for 3 weeks in 2017. It's a beautiful country and I enjoyed every minute. My mind has pondered over living there long-term -- it seems so affordable.

How was your experience living there for a while, especially as a developer?

momothereal··on [dead]
It looks like it, comes back from time-to-time. Also seems location-based.
momothereal··on OCaml: Add support to iOS/Mac ARM64
I've been using GitHub for code review (both open-source and commercial projects) for about 5 years. It's improved a little bit, but for PRs with >100 files changed it's obviously lacking good UX.

For me, the biggest improvement would be the tree-view you get in Fisheye/Crucible. It's so hard to get a grasp on large refactoring PRs on GitHub.

momothereal··on “Adobe Flash is no longer supported in Safari”
Haha, I actually had the exact same flow. Guess I'll have to keep the dual-booted Windows for a little while longer.
momothereal··on “Adobe Flash is no longer supported in Safari”
Adobe Connect (Zoom equivalent) still uses Flash in the browser. Had to use it for some uni courses.
momothereal··on “Massive DDoS attack” just T-Mobile error?
Out of curiosity, how does a T-Mobile error affect services like Messenger and Facebook?

I live in Canada and they were unreachable for about an hour. My ISP has no relation to T-Mobile. Is the FB network solely dependent on a mobile carrier?

momothereal··on Problems with Remote Learning
Specifically, it seems to be the new "DNS over HTTPS" feature in Firefox, with the default Cloudflare provider. I guess 1.1.1.1 will cause the same issue.

Interestingly, without TLS, the error is "Please enable cookies", whereas on HTTPS it's "403 Forbidden" after passing through an invalid cert.

momothereal··on Problems with Remote Learning
I haven't been able to access archive.is and archive.md in Firefox because of a Cloudflare error, "Please enable cookies.". It works on Chrome however.
momothereal··on Show HN: Lynk – Securely expose local TCP and HTTP services to the web
I echo the sentiments that the features you promote seem overkill for the "primary use-case" of local development.

On another note I suggest you improve the accessibility of your pages. The contrast of the text in the navigation bar and on the FAQ page makes it hard to read, and is below the WCAG standards.

momothereal··on Glowstone: open-source Minecraft server
I think the issues on Github can give a general idea.

Pistons actually work (at least basic pushing/pulling) since a recent update, so we should probably update that on the wiki. Other than that, I'd say the biggest missing feature is Entity AI/Pathfinding at the moment.
