TLDR: Bronze tier (€2,250) and higher will now come with a seat on the advisory committee; municipalities,NGOs, nonprofits are also welcome; and the highest tiers have increased 50 percent.

The move is to strengthen productive ties between OSM and OSM-using companies and to increase revenue so the OSMF can meet the needs of the ever-growing project.

If you're using or benefitting from OSM data, you should make a donation. The project has grown so large, that more money is needed for improvements and site stability. It's not just the data, either, it's the API, the tile service. etc.

molly_radstowe··on Content Shaping
I wonder, do people realize that this technology renders the whole 'content moderation' debate as completely moot? If all content can be altered, easily, there's no one to moderate. You can't block an app on everyone's phone that shifts the tone or voice or lens of anything that is consumed online. People will sign up for the lens that they want. A very few will want the raw, unfiltered data version--people with a propensity for raw data, or who need to do research--the type of people who collect hand-recorded bootlegs of live concerts. There will be a branch of history devoted to verification of what really happened, but it will be esoteric. "Reality" as something that is legible on the internet is dead.

Well, it's obviously a map that will be a competitor to Google.
molly_radstowe··on Meta, Microsoft, AWS and TomTom launch Overture Foundation for open map data
To me, this is the Google alternative that we have been waiting for. Open, collaborative, but with some real money attached to it. I hope it works.
molly_radstowe··on TomTom’s new mapping platform and ecosystem
I'd argue it's #1
molly_radstowe··on TomTom’s new mapping platform and ecosystem
How is it stealing data? Most geospatial companies use OSM data, with OSM's permission, and it's a smart thing to do b/c they have a great map. Why wouldn't a mapmaker work with OSM data?
