mokkol··on Claude Code gets native LSP support
Uninstall it and install it via home brew fixed it for me.
mokkol··on Chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has died
You are right, sorry about that. I can't read today. I deleted that part.
mokkol··on Chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has died
I can't believe this. Yesterday I saw his last educational speedrun[0]. He was such a great positive dude and I really enjoyed his content.

He will be missed!

I would love to donate some to his family if anybody has a link to share.

mokkol··on From M1 MacBook to Arch Linux: A month-long experiment that became permanenent
This app solves all window problems for me as well.
mokkol··on Zed on Linux Is Here
I'm using Zed for a couple of months now. As a Vim bindings user, my personal fav Zed feature is that the Vim bindings really work.

Zed is made by people who used Vim themselves.

mokkol··on From a lorry driver to Ruby on rails developer at 38
Here in Spain, I pay €35/month for weekly piano lessons for my daughter. She loves it and we are really happy with her teacher as well. All from the public music school.
mokkol··on PlanetScale performs layoff and prioritizes profitability
With news like these, I always take the lesson: Nothing free lasts forever. If you are not paying for the product, the product doesn't last for you. You will have to migrate or pay eventually. They don't owe you anything if you don't pay.
mokkol··on Ruby's exceptional creatures
Every big company has (and if they don't, they should) style guides. In Ruby people tend to use something like Rubocop (which is a static code analyzer/linter) to agree on a style. That will even be added as a default in Rails 8.
mokkol··on My B2B SaaS just hit 10 years old. A personal story about how it all started
Thank you Justin!
mokkol··on My B2B SaaS just hit 10 years old. A personal story about how it all started
You are welcome m1keil. It did come at exactly the right time. It is a bit dated but still holds strong. I also like his new book called 'The SaaS playbook' which is a bit more for the stage my SaaS is currently in.
mokkol··on My B2B SaaS just hit 10 years old. A personal story about how it all started
Yeah, a follow-up article is in the pipeline. I have had enough ups and downs to create multiple articles!
mokkol··on Catalyst – Tailwind CSS Application UI Kit
This is an extra thing on top of everything they made. I praise them for not adding any extra costs. It is never enough for some people. They have a one off price for so much stuff. Absolutely no brainer for a lot of people.
mokkol··on A Complete Guide to CSS Grid
Flex for one dimension and grid for 2 dimensions.
mokkol··on Ruby on Rails: The Documentary [video]
Thanks Ryan. You made me love Rails and to be passionate about coding. I’m still working every day in it and still love it every single day. I have a one man SaaS that is providing for me and my family for the last 9 years.

You played a big part in it. Thank you!

mokkol··on Rails 7.1 Released
For me it made a lot of sense. Ruby developers don't like types as much as in other languages. By far the majority of Javascript made by Ruby/Rails developers is vanilla. Turbo is a library used mostly by Ruby/Rails developers.

As a Rails developer myself, it was much harder to contribute to Turbo. I had to learn Typescript before doing so, which makes the bridge too high.

90+% of the people who were complaining didn't even know Turbo existed.

Could it be communicated a bit better? Yeah sure, I give you that. Is it bad moving forward? Maybe initially as there were broken PRs but I think eventually it is in a much better place. In my opinion.

mokkol··on Leaked government document shows Spain wants to ban end-to-end encryption
I see those things as a big slap in the face for freedom. Can you imagine? We forbid locks in your homes. You have nothing to hide (but a lot to lose).

I hate the argument 'You have nothing to hide'. It is so untrue for every single person in the world. It is such a weak argument.

You have nothing to hide and we forbid to use any form of encryption.

Alright, lets AI call your grandmother with all the information hackers got on you. Lets see if you really had nothing to hide.

mokkol··on The meat industry blocked the IPCC’s attempt to recommend a plant-based diet
Who says fats are only in meat and dairy? They are in many plant based sources that contain large amounts of fats. Just to name a couple: Nuts, seeds, fruits(avocado, olives, coconut)
mokkol··on I bought back my acquihired startup
I think it slightly works different with a dating app. In theory, if the app works you don’t need it anymore. So in their case, it is confident to offer a big discount.
mokkol··on MySQL for Developers
Wow, that is some awesome quality & quantity. I can't believe this is for free!

Well done!

mokkol··on An Overview of Ruby on Rails 7.1 Features. Part III
You can still use React or whatever on those pages. And for the rest (settings pages, signup pages and all the CRUD pages) you can use standard Rails with Hotwire.
mokkol··on On ‘Plant-Based’
Mammals don't need to drink milk from other animals. So no, it isn't the case.

Some people do drink almond milk of course, also meat eaters btw.

mokkol··on An Overview Of Upcoming Ruby on Rails 7.1 Features Part 1
I guess my 9 year old very profitable MVP on Rails 7.0.4 disagrees!
mokkol··on Why we're sticking with Ruby on Rails
You might want to check out Sorbet by Stripe if you want that with Ruby. https://sorbet.org/
mokkol··on Sublime Text 4
wow didn't know this... You are a life safer. thanks a lot!
mokkol··on Sublime Text 4
Had to run the following command to make "press and hold keys to repeat" work. (for example holding down the e key will create eeeeeeeeeeeeeee, instead of an option menu to choose eêíë)

defaults write com.sublimetext.4 ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false

mokkol··on 1MB Club
I always think, the one feature everybody wants is speed. The same page but faster is always better.
mokkol··on Ruby on Rails in a week
It is a plugin/gem that helps you track N+1 queries.

mokkol··on Climate change driving entire planet to dangerous 'global tipping point‘
This is unfair in my opinion. China produces more or less the whole world. Look what you have in your home and check where it is made. My guess is that 75% is made in China. So stop buying stuff from China and you do the world a favor.

It should be calculated by indirect impact per human, per country, instead of where it is made.

mokkol··on Running GitHub on Rails 6.0
While they were upgrading, Github added a lot of their own core features into Rails itself. Like multiple databases supported by default, parallel tests for a much faster test suite. Github didnt just upgrade their Rails version, they upgraded Rails itself partly.
mokkol··on Dear Apple, please fix notifications
This isn't something bothering me. What is bothering me is more than I get the same notifications on different devices. I get Read This Email on my phone. I read the email, 2 hours later I pickup my iPad and I see the same notification while I already dealt with the email.
