Could ActivityPub replace RSS even though it is not intended to do so?

That would be less expensive.
mogoh··on Teaching D from Scratch: Is it a viable first language? (2021)
"The D Blog" came to the conclusion, that D is a good language for kids.
mogoh··on 2024 could be the year the PC dumps x86 for Arm, thanks to Windows 12
> Apple's Arm cores now have significantly higher performance per clock cycle than any traditional x86 PC processor.

I am not an expert but this claim sounds way to high.

pure? Is nano not pure enough?
mogoh··on We don't have official RSS feed support for now, but we're working on a solution
Bramus, a google engineer did an inoffical workaround:

As on every mastodon instance you can filter by language if you have an account.

mogoh··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
You are right, but I think it is relatively easy to just export Bitwarden data and import it to KeePassXC if it will be necessary.
mogoh··on Bun v0.8
That's sad. Deno is great.

Just look at this pathatic open-source failures: VLC, Chrome, Firefox, and Wikipedia.
mogoh··on XUL Layout is gone
Well, you still can write XML compliant modern HTML. Just don't forget to serve it with HTTP header:

`Content-Type: application/xhtml+xml; charset=utf-8`.

The browser will treat it as XML.

But that is not true for all HTML, of course. So you are kind of right.

mogoh··on Lemmy
The lemmy-network is (for now) full of tankies. Just look at this: https://lemmy.ml/home/data_type/Post/listing_type/All/sort/T...
mogoh··on Write Posix Shell
My reason for staying away from posix-shell as much as possible is that it has so many ways to shoot itself in the foot. This is also only indirectly touched in the article. I'd rather write 10x as long Python scripts than to shoot myself in the foot with posix-shell again.
mogoh··on Visual design rules you can safely follow
I agree. The given reasoning is also bad:

> “Pure black looks unnatural on a screen, and pure white is too bright.“

Even though it looks “unnatural“ at least I can read it.

mogoh··on Visual design rules you can safely follow
Not GP, but “Yes.” and “Yes.”

mogoh··on Tailwind CSS v3.2: revisiting my “feature creep” warning
> The more capabilities that get added to Tailwind, the more complex Tailwind becomes. It may not yet be near a tipping point, but that’s a danger for which the Tailwind team will have to be on the lookout.

Tipping point of being too complex? For what? Doing more harm then good? Is that the argument? I am not a Tailwind fan, I don't use it, but I think, it did not reached the tipping point (of being useful) just at the 3.2 release.

mogoh··on Computers as I used to love them
I have heard that before, but no good reason why.

If a synchronization software can't handle a git repository, what else is it not able to handle? After all, a git repository is just a bunch of files and in my case not particular big once.

mogoh··on Computers as I used to love them
I tried many sync solutions (Syncthing, SparkleShare, Resilio, Mega, Seafile, NextCloud) and I almost always experienced some kind of data corruption. Syncthing was no exception. I could not reproduce the problem, so I never made a bug report.

The corruption was something like this:

- I recursively renamed all files from a folder from uppercase to lower case. Suddenly I duplicated files, uppercase and lower case.

- I did not use a device for a long time (a year or so). After switching the old device on, it "recovers" deleted files.

- I put a git repository into a sync folder. It stopped working after a while.

This, however, could be a solved problem by now, as it is 2+ years ago, that I tried syncthing.

Am I the only one with that kind of Problems? Has the situation improved?
