modarts··on jQuery 4
Don’t let all of the old heads glazing jquery in this thread confuse you - they’re just nostalgic. There’s no reason to even think of using jquery in 2026
modarts··on Parallel AI agents are a game changer
It still amuses me how literally people took Kapathy's famous tweet around vibe coding https://x.com/karpathy/status/1886192184808149383

If people were to actually read beyond the first sentence, it would become clear very quickly that this was meant to be tongue in cheek.

modarts··on What’s going on with Google and Facebook hiring freezes?
A hiring freeze is typically a freeze on new job reqs (candidates already interviewing wouldn't be exposed to this)
modarts··on Show HN: Stormah, cloud notes stored in your own Git repo
This is frankly, useless. What is the problem being solved here?
modarts··on Launch HN: HyperLinq (YC S21) – Desktop trading terminal
This is an unacceptably bad launch post.
modarts··on Show HN: Octo – Generate a serverless API from an SQL query
Looks like someone took this tweet literally https://twitter.com/davecheney/status/1296033304756404225
modarts··on Server-Side Tagging in Google Tag Manager
> Many of the benefits and concerns are tackled in their respective chapters. Even so, I want to emphasize that Server-side tagging has the potential to overturn the current dynamic of data collection and governance for an organization. You own and have full control over the server-side environment. You have access to tools and methods to thoroughly vet and validate the traffic between network sources and your advertising and analytics endpoints.

Not quite sure what's so revolutionary about this -- isn't this what Segment and other similar products have been offering for the better part of a decade?

> Simple views are easy enough to handle, but these functional style guis don't tend to deal with complex views very well.

modarts··on Launch HN: Freshpaint (YC S19) – Automated, Retroactive Alternative to Segment
Similar question to the grandparent - wondering how you go about maintaining a relatively large catalog of integrations with limited resources (I worked at an integration platform as a service company and remember maintenance of those to be the most resource intensive part of the product)

modarts··on Show HN: A Simple LocalStorage Hook in React
This is a great point, and on a second reading my comment did come off as a little insensitive -- will leave it up to give others context and make this a teachable moment for all of us to improve the level of discourse :)
modarts··on Show HN: A Simple LocalStorage Hook in React
“Journey” is a bit of a stretch here, no? :)

This is a few lines of pretty trivial code

modarts··on How to use array reduce for more than just numbers
This is a different argument than what megous was making (JS's support for mutating arguments validating that it's a good practice in a broad sense)

"Unobservable" or local mutation is completely fine (and pretty common in most functional programs that get to any significant scale)
