mlboss··on What happens when even college students can't do math anymore?
I don’t think it is about resources. Growing up in 3rd world country I have zero resources. It is the drive of student and higher standards from parents and teachers that matters. Everybody is just getting soft.

mlboss··on Job-seekers are dodging AI interviewers
Somebody should create a AI interviewer for VC funding. VCs are swamped with so many funding requests. All the founders should first convince AI why they need funding.
mlboss··on Job-seekers are dodging AI interviewers
Candidate will be still writing the prompt.
mlboss··on Job-seekers are dodging AI interviewers
The real irony will be that both the services will be using OpenAI speech to speech model.

I don't think you will ever talk to a user if you work in a big company. There are so many layers of abstraction.
mlboss··on OpenAI raises $8.3B at $300B valuation
I think it will be really sneaky. You ask for information and LLM will say "<product> does what you want and it is also cheaper with these additional features."

I would argue that Google is even better place for advertising. All they need to do is enable advertising in Gemini. There is a whole ecosystem already in place for Google advertising.

mlboss··on Agents built from alloys
Yeah its like a team where the task is switched between developers. In the end everybody provides different point of view to the problem and the whole team learns about the codebase.
mlboss··on Agents built from alloys
AI coding agents (e.g. Cursor) should offer this as an alternative to Claude Code. Alloyed agents is something that AI wrappers can offer as a counter to Codex/Claude Code/Google Agent.
mlboss··on Biomni: A General-Purpose Biomedical AI Agent
By that argument every SaaS is a db wrapper
mlboss··on Rules of good writing (2007)
Y Combinator came after his essays; though I don’t agree with everything Paul Graham says, those essays profoundly shaped me.
mlboss··on I don't think AGI is right around the corner
You should have asked it to to write a python program that does the task. LLMs are really bad in these kind of task but you can just ask it to write a program.
mlboss··on The Void IDE, Open-Source Alternative to Cursor, Released in Beta
After using Claude Code I am convinced that future is no IDE. Claude Code runs on your terminal and has access to all terminal tooling. It can even write short scripts for future repetitive tasks. I even use it for running shell commands where I don't remember the exact command.
mlboss··on Andrej Karpathy's YC AI SUS talk on the future of the industry
Recursive self-improvement will never happen. We will hit physical limitation before that: energy, rate earth minerals, datacenter etc. The only way we can have recursive self-improvement if Robots take over and start expanding to other planets/solar systems.
mlboss··on How I program with agents
How about a CEO delegating the work to an Engineer ? CEO does not understand all the technical detail but only knows what the outcome will look like.
mlboss··on Launch HN: Vassar Robotics (YC X25) – $219 robot arm that learns new skills
Opening a door is still a challenging problem for robots. Better to have electronic control of doors that can be opened programmatically.
mlboss··on Cursor 1.0
You should be good as long as you use one of the mainstream languages: Python, JS, Java, C++, Golang, Ruby, Rust etc
mlboss··on Thoughts on thinking
What we need is mental gyms. In modern society there is no need for physical labor but we go to gyms just to keep ourselves healthy.

Similarly in future we will not need mental "labor" but to keep ourselves sharp we need engage in mental exercises. I am thinking of picking up chess again just for this reason.

Writing book is really expensive. You have to think and put words on paper that engages the read. It is really hard.
mlboss··on What if we made advertising illegal?
How will a new business promote its product if advertising is banned ?

Thinking from a small business perspective, advertising is the only way to find consumers if you are just getting started.

Business stop advertising. Sales drop. People lose job.
