Android can run on $40 phones and therefore widely used .To me that's the most exciting thing about android ,that's almost as huge as what Microsoft did in the 90s ,you know making actual impact. There are more people talking to Google voice than Siri

TL:DR

A lot of poor people use android , poor people don't spend a lot and don't click many ads.Therefore Android is doomed.

Not a big fan of proprietary software especially software development tools .Imagine if Apache was proprietary, the internet wouldn't be the same.

I read/heard yahoo suffers from this problem ,one of the reason Marissa Mayer is struggling.

It's still frustrating ,because google did the hard part(storing 8 gb plus data) and mess up the easy part it's angering.

What's wrong if that platform is improving . There are so many really good java libraries to play with .

I for instance wanted to build a webapp with the StanfordNLP .

Working with Java Servlet is very hard to be productive in it , Simple things that I took for granted like routing,templating,user management and processing forms with binaries ie form-data is really hard.

But the static typing is really good ,ofcourse the language too .Maybe I should I've tried Jersey .

Freedom of speech and all that stuff ,but these people are awful

Is there a faster file search than in linux in the latest FileBrowser(gnome/nautilus) . It's crazy fast ,no indexing and finds files in huge hard disks in seconds .

I just wish they'd do it for free .

I like that they make me think about things like depth to differentiate what's active , I like the little line in inputs ,it encourages users(me included) to fill the input,

the ripple effect is small and cheap animation and communicates to the user a click .as is with checkbox etc

the morphing transitions is their best idea , As a user I hate flickers , if you blink you miss them overlay are even worse unless you are alerting.

transitions , what I like most about material design is transitioning between elements ,Morphing and filling .

But this remains best implementation

libaries like Bootstrap make you built less awful UI ,but very generic
