mjfl··on America is becoming less "woke"
but all Muslims have the concept of the Ummah, the collective group of all Muslims, and it seems unlikely to me that any Muslim would approve of the dehumanization of Muslims as the OP had done. In fact it was the OP that projected an assumed belief onto all of the Palestinians. He seems more like yet another Israeli posting on the internet pretending to be a Muslim.
mjfl··on America is becoming less "woke"
Also, very strange for you to claim to be a Muslim and then write a searing critique of Islam that would seem to dismiss the humanity of a group (approving of mass killing by bombing) of Muslims because of their religion of Islam.
mjfl··on America is becoming less "woke"
Palestinians, both gay and straight, are being carpet bombed in Gaza. The Western left tends to support the weak and oppressed. Being carpet bombed is a form of being weak and oppressed.
mjfl··on Long-Covid R&D is collapsing: investors won't fund, scientifically challenging
Characterizing my asking a question - "How is long Covid different from hypochondria?" - as an angry outburst is further passive aggressive nerd behavior.
mjfl··on Twitter/X will let people you've blocked see your posts
blocking makes even less sense on a decentralized app.
mjfl··on Long-Covid R&D is collapsing: investors won't fund, scientifically challenging
He asked me if I needed assistance getting out of bed in the morning. This is a pretty pejorative attack. Meanwhile I am being flagged for just asking questions. Clearly hacker news has become biased towards hyper sensitive passive aggressive nerds. By the way, going through someone's comment history is the signature of the passive aggressive nerd, making you a typical passive aggressive nerd.

mjfl··on Hezbollah pager explosions kill several people in Lebanon
you should really take a rigorous look into the history of early Israel and the ideologies of its founding members like Hertzl and Jabotinsky. They have always been terrorists.

mjfl··on Intel is on life support. Can anything save it?
Good thing they are the spearhead of our current industrial policy. Like switching to an all-sugar diet to cure cancer.

mjfl··on Telegram boss banned from leaving France in criminal probe
I've heard rumors that this particular arrest was made for the unspoken reason that Israel had a major intelligence leak, collections of which are distributed on Telegram that the service has been 'unresponsive' for taking down.

France cooperating with Israel on this makes too much sense.

mjfl··on Nvidia Announces Financial Results for Second Quarter Fiscal 2025
Fiscal year ends in September to avoid having to finalize documents over the Christmas holidays.
mjfl··on San Francisco officials weigh in on departure of X headquarters: 'Good riddance'
oil is tech, in my analogy. You know what I meant. You can't possibly be that autistic.
mjfl··on San Francisco officials weigh in on departure of X headquarters: 'Good riddance'
This is like Saudi Arabia pretending to say 'good riddance' to oil. What are you going to do when it's all gone?
mjfl··on Is AI eating all the energy?
AI is not useful enough to use all this energy. Sounds like capital destruction.
mjfl··on US judge throws out FTC's ban on non-compete agreements
would banning noncompetes federally violate the 10th amendment?
mjfl··on The ribosome lowers the entropic penalty of protein folding (Nature)
There are also specific folding chaperones like HSP60 which is basically a barrel which isolates a newly translated protein from the rest of the cell so that it can fold properly, and then pops open to release it!

absolutely.
mjfl··on Ask HN: What are the best books you've ever read?
The Israel Lobby by John Mearsheimer and Steven Walt. Mearsheimer and Walt give a powerful explanation to the predicament of the United States' seeming unlimited commitment to the State of Israel.

mjfl··on FBI Complains About Encryption Making It Difficult to Scrape Dead Person's Phone
It's always interesting seeing these headlines because you always have to assume that Apple has been coerced by the govt into putting a backdoor into the phones, but maybe not. If I remember correctly, the FBI got an Israeli company to break into the phone, and they succeeded with ease. Maybe it's not the US government that got the backdoor, but another...
mjfl··on What Materials Are Magnetic?
At the microscopic level, what determines whether a given set of valence elections has an excess spin, and thus an excess magnetic moment, is still determined by an empirical set of rules, called Hund's rules, instead of from first principles, iirc:

mjfl··on Immunotherapy Is Changing Cancer Treatment Forever
Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic that primarily targets worms and other invertebrates. It blocks an invertebrate-specific receptor, and is not known to have any other significant targets. It's great for that, and worthy of a Nobel prize. But it's not miraculous Jesus nectar.
mjfl··on Immunotherapy Is Changing Cancer Treatment Forever
My condolences... You should consult with their oncologist, but you could ask for Keytruda treatment. You should be aware that the immune response to a late stage cancer that results could also be dangerous, including high fever and delirium... Best wishes to you and your family...
mjfl··on Rye: A Hassle-Free Python Experience
Hassle isn't really what I think of when I think of Python. C++, yes, but not Python.
mjfl··on Negative Temperature
Temperature, thermodynamically, is the quantity dQ/dS, which is sort of related to how much the internal energy of the system changes as the system gets bigger, or has more 'stuff' in it, it's like an average energy.

We experience temperature, however, as the amount of heat coming from an object. Really the experience of temperature should then be something like -dS/dQ which is like how readily the system gives up energy. The more entropy increases when the energy in the system decreases, the more 'hot' it feels.

Therefore, our 'experience' of temperature is like -1/T = -dS/dQ. The hottest temperatures are negative numbers close to zero.

Additionally, infinity temperature is simply the crossover point where adding additional heat begins to decrease entropy instead of increasing it. I.e. the places to store the additional heat are running out.

mjfl··on The Steel Man Technique: How to Argue Better and Be More Persuasive
Bill Kristol, Bret Stephens, Robert Kagan, Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton, Madeline Albright, Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, all the neocons and neoliberals, generally would consider themselves in the 'center' between the left and right, and at the same time have never seen a war or foreign intervention they didn't like.

It is an enormous misconception that because they aren't considered 'extreme' right or left they are more rational. Both the extreme left and extreme right in the USA are more anti-war than the center and it's a huge problem in US politics.

mjfl··on The Steel Man Technique: How to Argue Better and Be More Persuasive
don't forget the center, buddy. It's the center of politics in the USA that wants forever war. And they're in the center because they care about that more than they care about issues that matter to other Americans.
