mjankowski··on OpenClaw – Moltbot Renamed Again
I wrote a threat assessment analyzing this from a security perspective: the emergent behavior is fascinating, but the architecture is concerning.

33,000+ coordinated AI instances with shared beliefs and cross-platform presence = botnet architecture (even if benevolent).

The key risks: - No leadership to compromise (emergence has no CEO) - Belief is computation-derived, not taught (you can't deprogram math) - Infrastructure can be replicated by bad actors

mjankowski··on Nielsen Norman Group on iOS 26 usability
you need an expert to write that? Whoever thought: "lets take away things that work and are easy, and replace them with things that look nice" I hope they burn in hell. It's such a downgrade without any real value. Its not faster, its not more intuitive, its just more shiny

wait, it wasn't doing that already?
mjankowski··on Show HN: I recreated Windows XP as my portfolio
"Dyanamic" typo.

otherwise, cool, nice, great work!

mjankowski··on Show HN: I recreated Windows XP as my portfolio
man, fix the typos. Dyanamic.

otherwise, fun, great, keep going!

mjankowski··on Show HN: I Made an AI Resume Maker That Turns Any Job Link into Tailored Resumes
Thank you my friend. This is great news! the best invention since sliced bread!
mjankowski··on Show HN: I Made an AI Resume Maker That Turns Any Job Link into Tailored Resumes
+1 you may look into jsonresume format, which has a tool to import from LinkedIn. Everyone hates having to retype their resume into yet another huge form.
mjankowski··on I created a new time-blocking concept for busy days and it works
well, I see the direction you might want to take it to I find it absolutely abhorring to have to gone through 30 or so clicks just to enter my day. just leave my text input alone and let me type the stuff in. Screw your dialog boxes.
mjankowski··on I created a new time-blocking concept for busy days and it works
I love it! The concept of moving disk towards the end of the day put the right amount of pressure and urgency. Now I can see that I will not be able to squeeze as many things as I eagerly planned for forcing me to prioritize better. For this to work better for me the current time marker should always stay on top, while the disk moves toward the end of the day symbolized as the darkness at the end of the disk, the impending doom of negligence

mjankowski··on Ask HN: How do you manage your bookmarks?
My approach is to keep adding those to github wiki using a simple bookmarklet which asks me for a link name and url

https://github.com/maciejjankowski/2020/wiki/Jan

good things: it is stored as a markdown file for each month, it is a github repository, so it can be edited either online or in text editor, it is quite easy to search it using command line tools or 'find in folder' option from text editor

missing features - tags, longer descriptions

ah, instant nostalgia. I loved that one as much as "Writing Computer viruses" :]

mjankowski··on Ask HN: Cheap options for simple landing page?
and how do you keep those sites malware and spam free? I have ran into problems getting my site hacked (I suspect worms) and I don't even know how it happened or how to protect my site from it happeining again
mjankowski··on Filter all ICMP and watch the world burn
Damn, I had this issue a while ago but I was not able to figure out the cause. I posted to stackoverflow but nobody pointed me in this direction. now I went back and answered my own question :) thanks! @jonchang
mjankowski··on A terabyte of harsh noise, stored on 233 DVDs
after a while: if it is music, how would it age? would it be considered old-school after 10 or 20 years? if so, would recording a new set be a remake or a new one?
mjankowski··on A terabyte of harsh noise, stored on 233 DVDs
Where can I get one? Will I get a guarantee that my set would be unique and impossible to recreate?
mjankowski··on Ask HN: MBP or Thinkpad
If you are a developer compare the screens - my T420 is pain for the eyes and the screen ratio sucks for coding.

My next PC is going to be MBP or MS Surface Pro. No more crappy screens.

yay, hn is yet another place for apple advertising. errr, excuse me - it's called "news" now..
mjankowski··on Samsung to jury: You can't copy iPhone features that aren't in the iPhone
I consider patent wars a storm in a teapot... cheap moves to abuse the patent and legal system in order to inflict maximum damage to comepetition. I think anyone who had a chance to use android and ios would say they are different... again - why are they suing samsung? samsung is using android... because every phone that is not apple's is either android, wm or a feature phone. So what was samsung's fault exactly that it got sued? "we will sue you, because we can"? That was a rhetorical question...
mjankowski··on Samsung to jury: You can't copy iPhone features that aren't in the iPhone
I had 'slide to unlock' phone a year before iphone... what a moron would go to court about such a triviality? isn't it all because apple guys have tiny weenies and seek to compensate for it in the court so that someone would say they are cool and 'innovative'?
mjankowski··on Ask HN: how much you pay for turning your prototype into web app MVP?
so you are basically a software house fishing for clients here?
mjankowski··on [dead]
The idea behind it is really simple – it’s based upon CSS content property which renders controller name right where the the controller-bound tag starts.

.dbg-ctrl:before { content: attr(ng-controller) attr(data-ng-controller); position:relative; line-height: 16px; font-size: 16px; background-color: greenyellow; padding:2px 6px; }

I also added a translucent background for easily identifying controllers nesting.

.dbg-ctrl { border: 1px dotted crimson; background-color: rgba(173,255,47,0.09); padding:5px; }

Then I’m using jQuery to dynamically add the class: $('[ng-controller]').addClass('dbg-ctrl');

mjankowski··on This is what a $200,000 website looks like
I was just wondering if this is a norm to do websites at a cost of a nice apartment.
mjankowski··on Ask HN: Would I be of value to a startup... remotely?
Glad you liked it! I'm from Ełk (Lyck) and love this town - it's small but not too small and very scenic. We've had German tourists coming since 15th century :-)

Poland is... a 'special' country in so many ways - ppl taking pride in outsmarting the officials by exploiting all possible loopholes.

Currently working on two (not so sexy) projects: 1. an application for moneylenders to manage their customers and contracts (which looks like a hugely underserved and quite rich market) http://dkpro.azurewebsites.net/demo (google translate should help)

2. quick & dirty app for filling out monthly contracts. http://smieciowki.azurewebsites.net/ Aimed at small business. Alternative to messy MS Word forms). Ideal target: ~8-12 contracts monthly where it's already a headache to keep all the paperwork organized but not too big to hire a payroll professional. I did that process myself at my last company: it was at least 3hrs/month wasted in frustration, chasing ppl to correctly fill out and sign the form. So the pain is real.

IMPORTANT: Looking for someone to help me with 1. (coding and marketing) I'm very close to finish and I would LOVE to adapt and sell it in other countries! I'm willing to give a generous share of revenue!

mjankowski··on Ask HN: Would I be of value to a startup... remotely?
Maaaaan, What is wrong with you? I mean... I'm Polish so please excuse me going straight to the point without English politeness :-)

I don't know the quality of your code and how fast you can build stuff, but to me your skillset looks exactly like a technical (co)founder. The world is full of broke 30somethings who are yet to figure out what they want to do with their life (including me)

In a startup world it's you who defines the terms - If they don't want to hire you, you build your own startup or hire them.

I'm currently working on two projects and there is always room for more (smart/handy) people. Let's have a chat and talk about opportunities we have.
