mitxela··on What happened to the Snowden archive
Well when Trump pardons him, he'll come back. Trump won't pardon him, because Trump supports deep state mass surveillance.

Who doesn't believe that

Mind you their version of "antisemitism" that they are banning is not hate speech, it is actually the opposite of hate speech and their ban makes hate speech mandatory.

What do you think about Palestine?

The bestiality thing is obviously because the FBI is really trying to hire a specific person, and bestiality came up on their background check.

If you're paying money for something you could get for free, you're a sucker. Ordinarily the person who is selling it makes sure you can't get it for free.

They are literally taxes

And then you run a program statically linked with a different version of glibc or musl and what happens?

Any flight near the US can be diverted to the US. Russia uses this tactic too.

No, I mean it didn't work.
mitxela··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
You don't have to.
mitxela··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
Of course they didn't. That's normal when you develop a new app.

If that's the case and they need to, they'll just make it legal.

They should start making good quality products and charging a price people are willing to pay then. Do you realise piracy is just about the only leverage consumers have here?

It's not unprecedented either. Basically every time in history that the common people got rights, it was a reaction to the common people ceasing to give the nobles what the nobles needed, forcing them to the bargaining table.

mitxela··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
No, why should they have pride? Having pride is more expensive than not having it, and the ones with pride have been naturally selected out of the market. The people making the movies don't care either, haven't you seen all the complaints about Hollywood becoming a slop factory?

They don't stop at terms and laws. They stop at what loses money, through customer churn or lawsuits.
mitxela··on Regeneration of used batteries via electrode–electrolyte interphase dissolution
This sounds more complicated than the existing processes to recycle the acid and the electrodes separately and make new batteries from the raw materials.
mitxela··on Heretic removes restrictions from language models
The hardware requirements are already quite restrictive

The system discovered that it's always easier to force someone to give you money than to offer something they want to pay for.

The production crew is getting peanuts anyway. If one out of 100 people donates them some money, they come out ahead.

Also maybe it's their job to come up with a business model that everyone doesn't hate. If they'd just syndicate to all streaming platforms, piracy wouldn't be a problem for them.

Permanent monopoly, because you'll always be watching what's current today, not 70 years ago
mitxela··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
I've worked for one of these companies as it rolled out a new app. Surprisingly, it didn't seem malicious. It was just platform/framework churn + "we need to unify all these apps into one common codebase"
mitxela··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
VPNs only help you with Bittorrent piracy. The kind where you buy a set-top box is still most easily caught by a police officer seeing you using the box, or selling you the box, not by anything they can do on the internet.

It's the lack of competition. They know you're not going to stop paying them.
mitxela··on What happened to the Snowden archive
I still don't understand what the comment means.

Individual freedom absolutism is best refered to as "libertarianism" right now. Which, btw, is a label the right appropriated and the left gave up.

Because they didn't have to do an ISP block. If they had to, they would have.

mitxela··on Raspberry Pi 5 EEPROM update now blocks manual RAM upgrades
It's not reasonable. Every company uses a similar "consumer safety" excuse for all its locking down. It's why you can't install apps on iPhones. It's why you can't upgrade the RAM on your laptop. It's why you can't replace your battery when it wears out. It's why your car door won't open if you replace the door handle. It's carefully manipulated PR bullshit in every case.
