There is a lot of conjecture happening here. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to know data about headphones but I'm having doubts that's the primary motivator.
I'm surprised at the lack of answers that suggest a positive opinion about working in Canada. I personally love the health care and other social benefits, the winters, the multi-cultural city (Toronto), the people, and the lack of gun ownership, among many other things. SV strikes me as a monoculture. I don't want to live at my workplace. The opportunities are fewer but there's also higher demand. My workplace has been struggling to find senior talent with very competitive salaries and perks.
I'm curious what percentage of that salary goes to pay for housing. I don't think a higher salary makes sense if the other expenses are proportionally higher.
I don't see centralization of a federated solution as a problem. If the popular service becomes for whatever reason unappealing, the solution allows for another provider to step in.
Interesting. Do you think the drug use is due to pressure to succeed / survive, or because you get more out of your time? Having more productive time is appealing but the idea of working 24/7 makes hanging myself appealing by comparison.
I used to disagree but not anymore. I think maybe the assumption is that you will be dissatisfied enough w the app to want to use another editor, and also that's easier to write Markdown than use the UI. Assuming good exporting facilities or lack of a proprietary format and quality UX, I'd much rather have the best possible editor than be able to write Markdown. It's much more important to e.g. add images, resize them, add sketches, graphs, and/or tables, or perhaps link multiple notes together. All of this is painful or impossible with Markdown (and editing Markdown on mobile is sucky). Markdown I think is an attempt to merge markup and content in a way that retains both, but it sucks for anything beyond simple header/paragraphs/lists.
America is not the world but that's not even the point. You're claiming they're politicizing the world. Election numbers don't represent willingness to make something political or whether it is. Not voting is a political decision.
But everything is already political? They're saying that _this_ specific person should have a more explicitly political stance, and not taking one is a political stance still.
I'm not a woman but I think you're misunderstanding. It's about fair representation, not special treatment because you're a woman. Assuming that's a promo video, it's under-represented.
