minimoose··on Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
Unfortunately we live in a time where the majority of people are practicing illiteracy.
minimoose··on Ask HN: How do you find stuff on the internet now?
strange, i got https://www.reddit.com/search?q=Django%20connection%20poolin... when using that search. i think ddg bangs work best when set as the default search and you just type into search bar or right click on highlighted text then search. using vivaldi but chrome should be similar.
minimoose··on Ask HN: How do you find stuff on the internet now?
I've used ddg for 10 years now. mostly for the bang shortcuts eg "!e mopho" searches ebay.
minimoose··on Ask HN: I hate gym. How to stay in shape?
Kettle bells swings are the single most efficient way to get a full body workout.

Other things to consider:

Saunas are great. 20 mins 60 degrees C per Dr. Rhonda Patrick foundmyfitness recommendations.

There are tons of yoga videos you can follow along with on youtubes.

Eat healthy and get plenty of sleep. Good luck ^^

minimoose··on Ask HN: Which books have made you a better thinker and problem solver?
I've found Micheal Sugrue's lectures on youtube very helpful to get the most out of philosophy.

minimoose··on Emerging evidence that mindfulness can sometimes increase selfish tendencies
I've had the same experience, but using the sauna regularly has helped spark resistance to the mundane.
minimoose··on Ask HN: What bits of fundamental knowledge are productivity multipliers?
That's great if you're in a body building competition, but you're training to have a heart attack at 65.
minimoose··on Ask HN: Anyone here have good material for learning how to sketch from scratch?
Started maybe 4 years ago wanting to make art for a video game. I took the Hunter S Thompson approach - he typed word for word I think TS Elliot. Traced what i liked eventually took it more serious. Draw once a day - doodles & no expectations. I liked NMA's Steve Huston sketchbook class, but really no one can draw for you. Stefan Baumann has some coaching sessions but that's for oil painting. Finding someone local to give coaching might help. cheers & good luck
minimoose··on Ask HN: How do you start researching for a project idea?
Books are a great starting place. google scholar for searching the research landscape. scihub for getting details.

as for fishing for ideas, meditation, doodling, keeping a journal

minimoose··on Ask HN: Why doesn't YouTube have a competitor?
for me yt does podcast & music well. just download w/e for a jog. (really i would prefer to read a book but i need the exercise) as for tutorials sometimes it helps to see what's going on (like with painting or audio design), sometimes if I'm limiting to reading a book I can easily fool myself about what I know. solving pre-made problems help but is still limiting.

minimoose··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
a 25 lb kettle bell will do wonders - but like anything powerful caution is advised:

minimoose··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
yes - really you could get by on a 25 lb kettle bell - swings & get ups are the fastest way to build strength according to comrad Pavel Tsatsouline
minimoose··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
the maschine mk3 has helped with my video game addiction.

downside is now i want a polyend tracker >.>

minimoose··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
no way this is cheaper than a used prius
