Really looking forward to your review of this.

Yes.

Why should people not turn to https://permanent.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that that claims to care about your photos even after you die?

mikae1··on WPEngine, Inc. vs. Automattic– Order on Motion for Preliminary Injunction
Thanks for correcting. I can be a (non-correcting) grammar nazi in Swedish , so I wholeheartedly accept your critique.

I'm not a native English speaker and I tend to make this mistake if I don't think twice.

This time I just typed without thinking twice, hence the outcome.

This thread derailing into a discussion about my spelling mistake will probably make me think thrice before I write this word the next time. :D

Wasn't it good that he kept talking though? Sorry for being crass, but I'd prefer him loosing this case.
mikae1··on Nyxt: The Hacker's Browser
> People tend to think in terms of what they could lose, and not in terms of potential gains. It's easier for users to take familiar extensions to a new browser, than having to learn how to use an analog.

How is this thinking wise? What are the potential gains and analogs for the end (without having to learn how to code)?

What is the analog to Bypass Paywalls Clean and Cookie AutoDelete as an example?

If writing new extensions in Common Lisp was so easy, why do they only list two extensions as available?[1]

Nyxt and qutebrowser target power users but leave out WebExtension support. I think they'd be a lot more popular if they didn't.

Low power consumption and good Linux support makes it a good home server for your OCI containers. Would also be a capable surf machine to complement my power hungry desktop machine.

> Media players with controls:

> <audio controls src="example.mp3"></audio>

> <video controls src="example.mp4"></video>

Which look different in every single browser and can't be styled without JavaScript. Wish these were implemented better.

mikae1··on <dialog>: The Dialog Element
> But my biggest let-down with the <dialog> element is that it's comnpletely unstyled

And it can't be styled without JavaScript? That's how it works with <audio>. So utterly frustrating.

mikae1··on ChatGPT Pro
You're technically right. New models will likely be incremental upgrades at a hefty premium. But considering the money they're loosing, this pricing likely better reflects their costs.
mikae1··on ChatGPT Pro
A con? It's not that $200 is a con, their whole existence is a con.

They're bleeding money and are desperately looking for a business model to survive. It's not going very well. Zitron[1] (among others) has outlined this.

> OpenAI's monthly revenue hit $300 million in August, and the company expects to make $3.7 billion in revenue this year (the company will, as mentioned, lose $5 billion anyway), yet the company says that it expects to make $11.6 billion in 2025 and $100 billion by 2029, a statement so egregious that I am surprised it's not some kind of financial crime to say it out loud. […] At present, OpenAI makes $225 million a month — $2.7 billion a year — by selling premium subscriptions to ChatGPT. To hit a revenue target of $11.6 billion in 2025, OpenAI would need to increase revenue from ChatGPT customers by 310%.[1]

Surprise surprise, they just raised the price.

And then I have to add 25% VAT because the order is more than 1500 SEK.
mikae1··on Raspberry Pi boosts Pi 5 performance with SDRAM tuning
OK. EU prices seems to be at least two times higher for a N100 mini PC.

Energy consumption seems to be 2x-3x higher. The RPi5 idles at ~3.5w and the N100 at 10w. But yeah, the N100 is faster.

You need a power brick for the N100 box.

Depends on what you need. The N100 isn't always "better".

According to us law, is the Internet Archive a library? I know they received a DMCA excemption.

If so, you could argue that your local library returns perfect copies of copyrighted works too. IMO it's somehow different from a business turning the results of their scraping into a profit machinery.

This. Apple's case design is unmatched.

Buying a new Mac won't give you a very good experience with (Asahi) Linux yet. ARM Windows sucks too.

This build is a self serviceable Linux dream machine.
