The rest of the world doesn't owe you anything. If 5 guys down the block are all charging less than half your price and you have a harder time getting clients, it is YOUR fault for not proving your value. As brands, Cadillac, BMW and Volvo do very well. They charge a lot of money for their products in a space where others sell their products for less than half the price. You need to build your brand and prove your worth to your potential clients, assuming your work is as good as your prices indicate. Forget about others, justify yourself or settle for Hyundai and KIA rates.
This is part 2, folks may want to check out part one as well:
Thanks!
If reddit tells you that, it is a sign that you are probably doing okay.
"But I do find it to be distasteful."
"hold these companies to a higher standard"
Quotes from your comment. Are you aware the title of the book is "How To Rape A Straight Guy"? I mean the book could be about bunnies and rainbows and cuddly kittens, but if I owned a business I am not sure I would want to sell a product that seemed to advocate an illegal, unethical and (universally deemed) immoral act, even if it did not and the title was just for shock value.
They are not withdrawing it from circulation. THEY are choosing to not circulate it themselves. The author can circulate it where ever he likes as long as it is not Amazon. If Amazon was the only place that sold books I would be with you.
Amazon is a media outlet but they are not suppressing his speech. They are not stopping him from publishing the work or even stopping him from writing it. They are choosing not to distribute it. Thus the suppression test fails and it is not censorship.
It's not censorship.
Another thing, if the title of your book talks about raping someone, some people are going to find it offensive and some businesses are not going to want to put it on their shelves.
FYI -- I did not down-vote your comment. I rarely ever down-vote anything on HN.
With the Merlin, I kept thinking "Simon". I can't remember exactly what I googled but maybe something like "retro handheld electronics red" and saw a picture of it.
I want an MMT now. I remember playing the HELL out of Greensleeves on that.
And the red handheld was called Merlin. That's all I got.

Of course, Google "_why". Read about "why the lucky stiff". Read lots about him and see where it leads you.
It fit with what I needed at the time. It gave me some great new ideas and confirmed others I had already been both coming up with on my own and brewing from others around me. I will probably re-read it again soon.
Thanks, though!
