mickaelkerjean··on Herdr is joining Y Combinator. The runtime stays open
What made you prefer it to tmux? Looking at their demo, they put a lot of emphasis on the workspace like feature which tmux already got with sessions. Not sure what is the point of all those new tui runtime, tried a few but always got back to tmux, what am I missing?

their tech is a mere demo to open up a new path, the day we can have some asics running a Qwen3.6 27b, this would open up new doors

I respectfully disagree if you have some other things to do in your free time than maintaining dependencies, trying to figure out why your project won't compile at all in 6 months of time while reporting 100 security issues, what will be the next change in webpack to will require to update both your config and some plugins, why does npm now cry for you to use a "--legacy-peer-deps" flags to nicely handle dependencies you didn't know you had while being happy you can't compile your frontend project on a small raspberry pi. It's not because you can use all those tools than you should

Yes! I can't count how many people have tried to use my software (https://github.com/mickael-kerjean/filestash), flushing some entire directories with docker volume and creating support tickets and emails as things got broken.

The landscape of tools supposed to solve that problem isn't great. Things are changing way too fast with projects being archived or deprecated with mention to migrate to another solution which after another year is deprecated again. Because of those issue, I've went with go generate which isn't ideal but is at least stable. That proposal would be a game changer and hopefully it will become a reality as Brad is quite a prominent figure in the Golang world.

mickaelkerjean··on Substance: a JavaScript library for web-based content editing
In the same way as highjacking the scrollbar, WYSIWYG editors have always feel like a hack to support end user needs without technical background. The idea of being able to seamlessly edit a website, create pages that respect semantic that even my grand ma could maintain is quite compelling to me.

Many of those editors tends to produce bad looking HTML code that might be fine for today but will become an headache to migrate to any other platform or will become an headache when somebody decide they want to change the color of all their link as their crappy editors produce inline styling ....

Anyway we might not have a one size fit all solution but WYSIWYG isn't a perfect solution either.

mickaelkerjean··on Substance: a JavaScript library for web-based content editing
Can somebody give any use case that make this project or draft.js interesting compared to all the other WYSIWYG editors available (tinyMCE, CKEditor and so on...)?

Especially since the generated HTML of the editor is very verbose and doesn't respect semantic (header1 isn't translate as h1 but a div with a super long id. Why?)

And what is so terrible about contentEditable? I spent a few minutes with it a few month ago and it felt great (and works on old version of IE), just lacking some library on top of it to give the end user a way to fully control everything.
