mhkool··on Things You Can’t Say About Assange or WikiLeaks
I have always love wikileaks for what they do. It is very sad to see that there is so much wrong information and it makes me believe that there is indeed a smear campaign against Julian Assange and wilileaks.
mhkool··on [dead]
climate change is happening. If one looks at the data of the last 10,000 years it is obvious that the temperature goes up and down in patterns that we do not yet understand. Since there is also data about the CO2 level in the atmosphere in the last 10,000 years it is extremely obvious that CO2 is not a major factor in the temperature increase (scientists estimate a 1-2% causation). And there is a series of scientists and Nobel price laureates who are outraged and contradict the CO2-temperature link. All weather scientist agree on two things: water vapor makes the temperature increase and it is impossible to make very long term weather predictions. But what about the melting ice? Yes on the north pole ice melts and on the south pole there is an increase in ice. The ice in Greenland that melts is on the coast and in the center of Greenland the ice increases. But what about the the rising sea level you might ask... Experts think that the rise is about 1mm per year. Some satellites measure tenfold increases but this happens only after their measurements were "recalibrated". But "97% of scientist agree" you might say... yes, but you should know what they agree about. They agree that CO2 has some impact in the temperature rise. There is a channel on Youtube that has many videos about scientists explaining all of the above: the channel is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAR0Oi4L0Om4F26uwpANgCg
mhkool··on Ask HN: Do you believe that your government has access to your Google history?
It is so easy for agencies to get a secret court order to collect data from Google directly. So they do not have to break TLS to Google's sites. With these secret orders in the name of "national security" anything is possible and you do not know and most likely will never know what is ordered.
mhkool··on Payouts by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program have now topped $4B [pdf]
The supreme court of the USA has ruled that vaccines are unavoidably unsafe. That is a fact that one should think about for a minute.
mhkool··on Chinese hackers eavesdropping on the EU diplomatic communications for years
It is soooooo easy to blame somebody else and that is why we see again and again Russia, China and Iran being blamed for hacking. The USA and EU do not hack. Who believes this BS?
mhkool··on Ask HN: Name 3 Companies you think will still be around in 500 years?
small scale biological farmers
mhkool··on Ask HN: You $10,000 to Invest into 1 CryptoCurrency, What would it be?

mhkool··on It’s not a trade war with China. It’s a tech war
... and if we are not extremely careful it will be a real war. A lot of people laugh when a comparison between the events of today and the events before WW I and WWII is made, but this is serious stuff and the USA is not very good at winning wars.
mhkool··on Ask HN: Can you legally deny selling software to someone on ethical grounds?
This reminds me of all social media kicking Alex Jones from their platforms. It is a nice ideology to allow free speech but it simply does not happen.
mhkool··on Ask HN: My CIO put our DB online, what should I do?
Your CIO is so ... looking for a polite word ... stupid that he must be fired. No doubt. So write an email to him that what he did is too dangerous and must be undone (DB removed). If the databised is not removed quickly, report it. It is your duty.
mhkool··on Texas Is About to Create OPEC’s Worst Nightmare
Less dependency on foreign oil is good for peace since the US will not be "protecting their interests". And Saudi Arabia having less budget for their wars is also a good thing.
mhkool··on Linus Torvalds: After big Linux performance hit, Spectre v2 patch needs curbs
The default kernel settings should be secure. So if the current STIBP is too expensive and SMT-disable is less expensive, I have no issue with disabling STIBP provided that SMT is also disabled to make sure that the default kernel is safe.
mhkool··on Real Progress in Parkinson’s
I wish they do not develop an inhibitor drug but try to find the cause of the inflammation. The big question is "what triggers the NLRP3 inflammasome?" Is that a combination of toxins? Or maybe Aluminum? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18624356 states "These results indicate that alum induces IL-1beta via the Nlrp3 inflammasome but this activity is dispensable for alum-mediated adjuvant activity." So the root cause could even be vaccines with Aluminum.
mhkool··on PortSmash Vuln Hits AMD and Possibly Intel
The title is incorrect and "Hits AMD and possibly Intel" should read "Hits Intel and possibly AMD"
mhkool··on ThreadRipper Build Failure・Warranty Denied・Cautionary Tale
The title is misleading since the issue is with the MSI motherboard, not the Threadripper.
mhkool··on Microplastics Find Their Way into Your Gut, a Pilot Study Finds
"Microplastics — defined as pieces less than .02 inches long, roughly the size of a grain of rice — have become ..."

The author does not know that .02 inches is NOT the size of a grain of rice.

mhkool··on Even the best AI for spotting fake news is still terrible
Last time I checked AI does not know how to fact check and without fact checking one cannot determine with a high degree of certainty if news is fake or not.
mhkool··on The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate Amazon and Apple
eh, does this mean that the motherboard is not tampered with ?
mhkool··on Ask HN: Was hired to improve company's devops, founder won't listen to my ideas
My wife is a management consultant and she has hundreds of anecdotes about owners who do not want to change. If I were you I would be looking for a new job since you will most likely not gain the trust of the owner.
mhkool··on Facebook's David Marcus on Brian Acton's Departure
David Marcus is trying you to forget the facts: Whatsapp should stay without ads and Acton left because this did not happen. It already has been announced that whatsapp will have ads, so Acton said the truth and David Marcus is a BS spreader.
mhkool··on The Librem Key Makes Tamper Detection Easy
If you do not want the user to trust the UI on the laptop but only trust the led on the key, then the UI must be changed and instead of displaying a red/green status in the UI, show the text "LOOK AT THE LED OF THE KEY". This way users will never be fooled by a hacked UI that shows a green status.
mhkool··on What voting in the EU parliament looks like
what a shameful theater.
mhkool··on Ask HN: What was the one book that you read and it actually changed your life?
"The Great American Health Hoax" by Raymond Francis made me understand that health is not gained with medicines but by avoiding toxins and eating nutricious foods.

mhkool··on Ask HN: I'm 40 this year, and have depression. Any words of wisdom?
I suggest to go to www.brokenbrain.com where Dr Mark Hyman explains the causes of depression and other brain-related diseases. Once you understand the real causes, it is relatively simple to remove the causes and get healthy again.
mhkool··on Tesla Directors, in Damage Control Mode, Want Elon Musk to Stop Tweeting
The video titled 'don´t talk to the police' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7o9xYp7eE is a very serious message from a lawyer and a cop not to say a single word since it will be used against you. The same is true for Musk and twitter.
mhkool··on Solving Spectre and Meltdown may ultimately require a new type of processor
The "new processor" is already being developed. Mill computing is designing the Mill CPU and made 13 videos so far on Youtube explaining most characteristics of the new CPU. The CPU is on par with the latest Xeon, uses 10x less power, and has many great features that enhance performance and security a lot. For example, portals calls are function calls from protection domains to another protection domain and automagically only allow the parameters to be read by the callee and the results be read by the caller. The rest of the data of the other protection domain cannot be accessed. The stack is also secure since there are 2 stacks: one holds all data that one normally find on a stack and is modifiable by the program and the second stack is a hardware-managed stack with the return addresses which is hidden from software. Also the protection on the stack changes with each call and each return such that a stack overflow results in an immediate fault. The CPU has many more features, too many to name here.
mhkool··on Coconut oil is 'pure poison', says Harvard professor
There is no scientific evidence to support the statement that Coconut Oil is pure poison. This professor is a quack.
mhkool··on Skype's End-To-End Encryption Goes Live
End-to-end encryption was already in Skype before Microsoft bought it. They removed it and now it comes back as an optional feature. What do you think was the reason that they removed it?
mhkool··on Why the choice of DRAM in the Data Center is so critical

mhkool··on TLS 1.3 Is an Opportunity for Amazon, Google and Microsoft to End Censorship
The author does not consider that a filter can block TLS 1.3 and force apps to continue using TLS 1.2.
