mhkane··on How Africans are changing French, one joke, rap and book at a time
Fair enough, here are a few links:

- Les Parents Du Campus: Gboglo Koffi (1993): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOOo7GmMT0U

- Espoir 2000: Abidjan Farot (2006) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNVpabquZFA

- Molare: le boucan (2008): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4bDNll6L0g

Boucantier is one of the words that was introduced in the Larousse dictionary in 2019

One of the key artists of the movement passed away in 2019 and I also wrote about the significance of these songs from an "urban youth" perspective: https://medium.com/mitafricans/farewell-to-dj-arafat-reflect...

[Commenting as an HN member born and raised in Côte d'Ivoire] Quite cool to see this topic trending! Some additional context:

Two popular music genres that popularized nouchi in Côte d'Ivoire and then France are "Zouglou" (1990s) and "Coupé-Décalé" (2000-2010s). Both are past their primes but it's interesting to watch now the diffusion process into the French culture. In 2019, a few nouchi words were added to the Larousse dictionary: https://www.france24.com/fr/20190601cote-ivoire-nouchi-argot...

mhkane··on Nubia: A SoTA evaluation metric for text generation
I think the question here is more along the lines of "If now, I have ,say, radiology reports, do I use Nubia out of the box or do I need to make it read radiology reports and have a sense of what high quality radiology reports look like before using it?"
mhkane··on Nubia: A SoTA evaluation metric for text generation
Super cool! If all the components of this metric are models, thoughtful versioning and documenting it will be important. What are your thoughts on this ?
mhkane··on My productivity app for the past 12 years has been a single .txt file
Also do it but with a Google Doc in the form of monthly daily logs (i.e Feb 2020 Daily Log). In addition to keeping track of daily to dos, there's also a backlog at the top and a future anticipated events. It has become a big part of my routine and feel very happy about it. I've done that for the past 3 years and like the simplicity of this workflow :)
mhkane··on Fooling Neural Networks in the Physical World with 3D Adversarial Objects
Awesome work !! This breakthrough opens a new avenue! Also appreciate how far you went in terms of developing new algorithms and 3D printing objects ! Would be interesting to see if this can also work with ensemble of neural networks as well as whether fooling an ensemble automatically leads to transformations fooling individual neural nets within it !
mhkane··on Apply HN: xCollabr – gather collective potential
Oh I see, it's actually a very good concept. I started a bunch of organizations on my campus and using that I could have easily learnt from other organizations what worked/didn't work instead of re-discovering everything by myself. Nice !

I am interested to hear more. I think I have a vague understanding of the problem but can you clarify your solution ? I am still a bit confused about what you mean by "cross-pollination of ideas and practices while enforcing various levels of privacy". Maybe providing an example will also be helpful.
