mguijarr··on .NET 10 Preview 6 brings JIT improvements, one-shot tool execution
Hi! I use csharpier, it does the job - I included it as a preliminary check in our CI pipeline for a step of merge requests quality assessment. It is the closest tool I found, that ressembles prettier. You should definitely give it a try.
mguijarr··on Redis is trying to take over the all of the OSS Redis libraries
Kvrocks (under Apache foundation umbrella) is another interesting Redis-compatible alternative, this one is targeting memory and SSD/NVME storage since it is implemented on top of RocksDB. So depending on your needs it may be a more efficient choice compared to Valkey.
mguijarr··on Someone's been messing with Python's floating point subnormals
Contrary to what is said in the article, gevent has the fix, it has been merged as https://github.com/gevent/gevent/commit/e29bd2ee11ca5f78cc9c... 2 years ago.
mguijarr··on Masterpiece was hanging above an elderly French woman's hot plate
> btw is it normal for families to call appraisers?

Well, sorry to say but no, it is not "normal" in the sense every family does this - something only seen for rich people or those who have problems dividing wealth

mguijarr··on Google Slides Is Hilarious
I use slides.com, I find it perfect for my needs. The solution to go with plain text and Pandoc and git is ok for software guys but if you want to make nice slides easily I find slides.com to be very effective. Just my 2 cents!
mguijarr··on Slate JS – A customizable framework for building rich text editors
I do not know Slate JS (yet), but I think it is worth mentioning react-draft-wysiwyg[1], a rich text editor made on top of React and Draft. I used it in one of my projects and it was really cool.

mguijarr··on Ask HN: How do your team write documentation?
Thanks for your reply. So even at Microsoft developers have to write documentation themselves ? There are no technical writers to help ? I do not know how to catch up with the documentation now there are tons of undocumented code - your ideas are great for ensuring the situation won't reproduce but I need to catch up too. Thanks.
mguijarr··on Ask HN: How do your team write documentation?
Thanks for your reply. I have another question though : how would you do if there were already a lot of undocumented code ? Would you organise a "documentation retreat" to catch up then doing as you say, documenting before coding ?
mguijarr··on Typing Nix
How does Nix compare with conda[0] ? I could not find any useful resource, in my team we were hesitating between the two, for packages management ; finally we went for conda because it (seems)is better documented and package description is easier to write for newbies. And also we are a Python shop, so other devs felt more comfortable with conda. Personally I prefer Nix, though, and I wanted to advocate for it but the only main difference I could find is that Nix sits on top of the kernel (including libc...) whereas conda uses the system libc.

mguijarr··on Desmos Graphing Calculator – HTML5 with LaTeX editor
Really awesome. I wonder which JS library is used for the plotting itself ? Is it made by you guys ? Is it open source ? Thanks and keep on with the good work !
mguijarr··on Gevent 1.0 released
Thanks a lot for this wonderful library! I also learned a Python3 version (1.1 ?) is planned: excellent :) You're doing an amazing job.
mguijarr··on How will you read your files in a hundred years?
In 100 years I will be dead.
mguijarr··on Ask HN: Which developer laptop should I buy?
Hi,

I recently bought a Toshiba Portege Z930, running Linux Mint 13. I just had to upgrade kernel to have it working without any problem (before I experienced some random freezes). I am very happy with it.

Cheers, Mat'.
