I was previously a fan, but I'd never seen behavior like that from an "open source" project.
PLEASE if someone from the team sees this - I would pay so much for a ephemeral object store using your same edge protocol (seen in the sensor example from your blog).
Cheers!
As a person of color this is even more detestable.
Boomers promulgated lies about "shortages" for years to lobby for relaxed visa schemes. Ironic you mention nationalism being silly, since Indians are some of the most openly caustic nationalists I encounter on a daily basis.
Not to mention how the amazon rainforest is just burned down to clear space for palm oil plantations?
In my opinion, outsourcing is a larger evil. The money used to pay the salaries of outsourced engineers should be taxed at-least at 20% (along with remittances to India) akin to what we currently penalize foreign countries for maliciously suppressing the cost of physical goods. This is called Countervailing Duty or Anti Dumping Duty penalties.
I've reached my limit with the entitlement of these people in the united states. Especially systematically excluding americans or non-indians once they reach a hiring level / role.
Time to cull the waterloo crowd and maybe think twice about cheap outsourcing to latam and india.
Cash is king - never work for free or let some overzealous founder (who has tons of equity and is ok working for poverty wages) try to encourage you to work longer or harder "because equity go up one day".
The founders of Windsurf are clearly horrible people and the fact they were DM'ing people on twitter trying to explain being awful people really reflects the current state of the valley.
Garry Tan even deleted a comment on this tweet where to Windsurf employee #2 he said "looks like you left $20M on the table". These people see employees as replaceable widgets and to them this is just a game build around the "excitement of building".
Legitimately F*CK these people.
It's un-american and again - strikingly disgusting
This is blindingly obvious if you look at the share of h1b visas that indians account for (a vast majority).
Would much rather that visa had gone to a researcher or engineer who's motto wasn't "not wanting to push pixels around at a FAANG".
The fact that only a 3.5% remittance tax on non-digital payments was barely implemented is pathetic.
